Friendly reception, free drink at the bar, clean room, rich breakfast.

No toilet brush in the room. When I asked, I was told that this is the case with all NH hotels. Bad.

Renovated but not finished

I was positive supprised about the renovation. It looks very nice and you feel comfortable. Staff is friendly like always. I know this hotel for 40 years and it has a name, it has history.

The rooms are still the same old stuff. They didn t renovate them yet. For instance, the shower armature is still loose and is a matter of time and it falls of the wall. Cleaning should also done better.

Staying in Jan Tabak Bussum

The services, breakfast, bed, bath... everything was really good.

The only minus for this hotel is the place. If you are not with a car it s really painful. You have 2 km walking to the train station. If you are with a car the place is great - really close to the highway.

Room service needed

When I stayed at this hotel three years ago everything was perfect. This time was no different. The service and food are outstanding. The bed and pillows just the right softness. Extremely clean and near the A1 freeway.

This time the room service was below pae for this outstanding hotel. Dirty Towels were not removed and liquid soap was not replaced after completely used. Trash was left in can more than one day. The only thing the maid did was make the bed. I complained to the desk clerk and the next day my room was completely cleaned. Other than that I am totally delighted with this hotel, alrhough an explanation card for the air conditioning and RV remote would be a big help.

“My tip: Rent a car if you are not used to walking any distance. Use a local map and find the Brinklaan. That is where most of the stores are. Try Zorba de Greek in Bussum and have some salted herring at a local fish market eatery on the Brinklaan in Bussum. There is a local weekly market op het Wilhelmina plantsoen every Thursday. ”

good practical hotel

Great location, large rooms.

We had a big room in the back of the hotel. It was roomy and had a nice layout. We had a wonderful breakfast every morning. The people in the reception area were capable and friendly.

Our room was not very well cleaned every day, the corners of the bathroom were not clean, nor the bottom of the shower curtain.

The room was not cleaned properly after the previous guest. There were papers, and sachets in the wardrobe. The mini bar was empty except for left overs from teh previous guest.

The best hotel in Bussum

Great location (although contruction currently requires major detour to get to it from the A-1 highway), very quiet, free parking area, nice outdoor sitting area. Nice room. We have been frequent guests at the hotel and prefer it, despite the slight minuses. The best coffee in town.

No room service before 11:00 A.M. The extensive breakfast buffet is too expensive for our tastes (we did not use it but we were erroneously billed for it, the bill was corrected when we checked out). Service is slow. Lights in room so dim you can hardly read. No CNN channel on the TV. Plastic door keys malfunctioned repeatedly. Handicapped access may be a problem for some (almost everywhere true in the Netherlands).

A very good breakfast, a box of apples for guests to take whenever they like, pleasant, efficient staff. Attractive rooms, even the possibility of selecting the type of pillow you would like.

My particular room was missing a safe, to the surprise of the hotel. The bathroom door did not shut properly unless locked, but these are minor points. The biggest problem, and it was a big one for me because I am a non-smoker from the United States where many fewer people smoke, was the following: The large lobby and reception of the hotel opens to the bar and restaurant. People were or had been smoking everywhere so the place was filled with stale smoke at all times. I am not someone who generally notices such things, but each time I would walk into the hotel I was struck by it and so the whole time I was there, I felt the atmosphere was unhealthy. The first room I had, though it was on a non-smoking floor -the second floor - was next to the elevator and the large open stairway leading to the lobby, and so the room was also filled with stale smoke as was the entire hallway. Once I changed rooms, I could only smell the smoke if I was near the door of my room. It was summer and I kept the window wide open so it worked out okay, but this is a major drawback of the hotel for those accustomed to relatively smoke-free environments.

Employees are all very friendly and helpful. Always smiling. The hotel is clean and beautiful. We would not stay anywhere else when visiting our family in Bussum.

The maid turned the thermostat to the coldest possible setting. She should leave it where the customer has it. The breakfast charge automatically is placed on the bill and then taken off if we had no breakfast. You should have a system in the dining room to keep track of who eats breakfast. Have a coffee pot in the lobby for guests to take free coffee if they don\'t want breakfast.
