H Design Hotels Kasteel Coevorden is established in several annexes belonging to the only castle in Drenthe. Take a seat in the attractive lounge and enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail and exquisite appetizers. Beer connoisseurs will appreciate the wide range of beers stored in the castle's very own beer cellar. The charming outdoor terrace is a lovely place to have breakfast or dinner.

The hotel rooms are located in Pakhuis de Vlijt and offer a view of Coevorden's historical canal. All rooms come with a wonderful king-size bed, WiFi, a smart tv, a rain shower and a mini-bar (stocked on request). The suites come with a bath. It's easy to take day trips from the hotel: to Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen, Slagharen theme park and the Hunebedcentrum (megalithic tomb centre) in Borger.

Kasteel Coevorden lies on the Hondsrug, a hilly area with 'hunebedden' (megalithic tombs) in East Drenthe. Discover this pretty landscape by bike or during a walk. Golf is also a popular pastime in this area, and there are a number of golf courses in the immediate vicinity. Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen and Slagharen theme park are easy to reach by car. A trip to Plopsaland Indoor in Coevorden is also great fun for children.

    Kasteel Coevorden de Vlijt

Very convenient location, less than 10 min walk from train station, and with restaurants and shops nearby. I was very pleased with my room, it was cosy, well lit and had character with the low ceiling beams. I could receive CNN and BBC to keep connected to current events. There were plenty of storage shelves. There was hot and cold breakfast variety with fresh juices and berry puries.

The open design of shower cubicle allowed water to splash beyond the boundary of the cubicle in spite of the care I took. It would have been good to also have coffee tea making facilities i.e. a kettle in the room

“My tip: Do visit Jonkers the shoe shop. It has a large variety of good brands, especially the high quality German brands which are difficult to find in Amsterdam. Plan a short drive into Germany for dinner at Altes Landhaus Buddenberg in Ringe . Stop for an ice cream in front of the fountain in Coevorden.”
