From Hotel Restaurant 't Voorhuys in Emmeloord guests can make nice day trips. A visit to the nearby world heritage site 'Schokland' is recommended as well. The museum that is located here offers visitors a good insight in the history of the 'Noordoostpolder' area.

The breakfast buffet is served on Monday through Friday between 07:00 and 10:30 h. and between 08:00 and 10:30 h. on weekends. The excellent cuisine, the sun room and the outside terrace make 'Grandcafé 't Voorhuys' an ideal meeting point. On the menu are such items as egg dishes, salads and nice sandwiches. At dinner there is a wide variety of dishes to choose from as well, from starters to desserts.

After waiting for over 15 minutes for coffe at breakfast had to ring the bell in reception to attract staff attention.
