Best Western Plus City Hotel Gouda is situated in a new building on a lovely spot by the river Gouwe. The modern building is in perfect harmony with the old renovated light factory next to the hotel. The hotel has contemporary rooms fitted with every modern convenience, such as excellent box-spring beds and an airy bathroom with a shower and/or bath tub and separate toilet. There are also a total of seven spacious conference rooms, four of which border on the enclosed garden of 400m2. This garden is very much suited to parties as well as meetings.
This welcoming hotel has an elegant interior evocative of Gouda's rich history. The city's striking, historic, car-free centre is just a few minutes' walk from the hotel. The city's famous Cheese Market and the old weighhouse, 'de Waag' are ringed by plenty of nice shops and outdoor terraces. Back at Best Western Plus City Hotel Gouda, why not unwind with a drink in the hotel bar before enjoying a delicious meal in the hotel's restaurant Gregorius Cool (open Monday to Saturday)? Surroundings
You can take walking or cycling trips directly from Best Western Plus City Hotel Gouda, starting from the historic centre of Gouda. Aside from visiting Gouda, it's also nice to explore the area and see the famous windmills at Kinderdijk or take a day trip to Rotterdam. The Heksenwaag Museum (The Witches Weighhouse) in Oudewater, 15 km from the hotel, will certainly fire your imagination, as it offers a 300-year history of witch persecution. At the Archeon in Alphen aan de Rijn you can actively experience what it was like during prehistory, Roman Times and the Middle Ages. Sailing, fishing and swimming are possible at the Reeuwijkse Plassen, where you can also enjoy lovely walks in what's known as the 'Green Heart'.

You can enjoy breakfast between 07:00 and 10:00 on weekdays, and between 07:30 and 10:30 at weekends. The hotel also has a bar that is open daily from 17:00 until 00:00, except on Sundays when opening times are from 18:00 until 21:30. The restaurant is open on Monday to Saturday from 18:00 until 21:30, and is closed on Sundays.

Great location, very helpful and friendly desk staff, the rooms were nice, clean and functional.
Shower could use a little more privacy but worked great, soap bottle was nearly empty by the end of the stay, so needs to be checked more often by the cleaning staff. Also, the large step up into the tub and down out of it seems dangerous, the holding rail and step bench help, but are still different that what we are used to.

New hotel
The check in wasn't possible at 2 PM as was promised, instead we waited for 45 min because the room was not cleaned yet! However, next morning we were surprised by the cleaner who knocked on our door at 10 and again before 11.
The bathroom does not have a door so all the noises from the shower/tub are quite disturbing.
