Boutique Hotel de Doelen is established in a splendid historical building, at the foot of the Martini Tower and in the bustling heart of Groningen. The atmospheric building in which Boutique Hotel de Doelen is established has a long history as a hotel. The building dates from 1798 and has been used as a hotel for over 200 years. Many original features have remained in tact. The stunning stained glass dome above the staircase is particularly striking. Several terraces can be found in front of the hotel and are teeming during nice weather. The place to see and be seen.
The hotel has a wonderful classically decorated lounge, just like the rest of the premises. It is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day in the city. The rooms come with every modern convenience, including an en suite bathroom with a shower, a bath and a toilet, a television, a telephone and mini-bar. Besides standard rooms, the hotel also offers VIP-rooms, which come with a private sauna and a hot tub.

Groningen is a pleasant student town, well-known for its diversity. As the 'metropole of the northern Netherlands', this city attracts people from far and wide. Groningen offers a large variety of shops and a vibrant nightlife. There is always something to see or do here. Culture lovers will also feel at home here. The city boasts many historic attractions and the Groninger Museum is definitely worth visiting as well.

Breakfast is daily available from 07:00 to 10:30 in the lounge. You can choose and compose your own breakfast. The adjacent restaurant and bar, De Drie Gezusters, is also part of Boutique Hotel de Doelen. Here, guests can relax in an informal setting whilst enjoying a drink and a bite to eat. The kitchen is open until 21:00. Plus it's possible to order dinner in the lounge.

Quiet hotel, room at the back well shaded from street noise
Entrance of the hotel not reachable by car, which is a disadvantage when carrying heavy luggage.

“My tip: The town center is exactly as you come out of the hotel and it is full of Cafes and Pubs. But if you would like to know what exactly to do in town, head over to the pub right next to the hotel, buy yourself a drink and ask the barkeep whee you could see the nightlife wonders of Groningen. ”

This is the second time I stayed at this property and it was great. The location is very central and the staff friendly.
It would be great to have tea/coffee available all day.

Locatie: pal in het centrum, dus goed bereikbaar + een prima startpunt. Redelijk sfeervol. Vriendelijk personeel.
- Locatie: pal in het centrum aan een druk plein met veel uitgaanspubliek. Reserveer een kamer aan de achterzijde.
- men bleek niet in staat om gedurende mijn vier dagen goed internet te regelen. Ook nadat "het hele kastje was vervangen" bleef de verbinding op mijn kamer moeizaam. (Ter compensatie kreeg ik vier keer gratis ontbijt - dat dan weer wel.)
- Bent u slecht ter been, dan kunt u het hotel beter mijden. Of nadrukkelijk vragen om een kamer op een verdieping waar de lift komt

Great location, we arrived 3hrs pass checking in time, but staff couldn't of been more helpful, even checking on Internet for us for dates of next years events. Room was clean, bed really comfortable, Saturday night was noisy, due to pub next door but was told upfront when booked. Already booked again for next year
Only 2 requests use higher wattage light bulbs as room a little dark in evening to put make up on, also please move mirror to wall with sockets on. (Room 215).

Very convenient location. bus stop outside. 10 mins from train station. staff very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast buffet not great. we came to breakfast in last half hour and boiled eggs hard and not much bacon or scrambled egg left. could be upgraded.

Excellent location with good service!
There may be some noise from the bar nearby. There is a construction work going on at the square in the front of the hotel (Sept 2009).

Good bathroom for such an old hotel. Centrally located.
Loud, increasing noise from the street-restaurant below. Not possible to find any sleep until 2:00 AM.

Very good location, the hotel is located at the \'Grote Markt\' right in the centre. The personel was very kind, it didn\'t matter that we came 15 minutes earlier en left 10 minutes later than we had to
Maybe the noise of the disco next to the hotel. It didn\'t botter us, but our room was the farest away from the disco.
