With the characteristic tower Martinitoren in sight, the central market square Grote Markt can be reached within a few minutes. The square is surrounded with several shopping streets, bars with terraces and cafes, providing a pleasant atmosphere in the evening. Groningen has a lot to offer in the cultural department with its many theatres, museums and events.
The building which houses the Martini Hotel Centre Groningen has accommodated guests since 1871. A personal approach is the main principle in this contemporary and comfortable hotel. The cosy hotel rooms are equipped with a shower, toilet and television. Are you planning something early in the morning? Besides a wake-up service the staff can prepare a breakfast or lunchbox for its guests. The hotel has its own parking space which can be used at a fee.
Opposite the Gedempte Zuiderdiep canal, where the Martini Hotel Centre Groningen is situated, the Herestraat commences. This street offers a wide variety of well-known chains of establishments. If you prefer smaller boutiques and vintage shops, you will certainly enjoy the Folkingestraat. Groningen is often referred to as the 'cultural capital of the North'. Evidence leading to this title can be found easily whilst visiting the theatres Stadsschouwburg,De Oosterpoort or the Groninger Museum.

No noise, a good breakfast, and a friendly service
The room was very sober, which was no problem, as we only wanted a place to sleep and to shower
“My tip: Visit Hanosato on Gedempte Zuiderdiep a very tasty Japanese restaurant”

The staff was very friendly and the breakfast very good. the room was perfect for the 3 of us although I would have have put 3 glasses instead of 2 in the bathroom. The restaurant was amazing and open late.
The fan didn t work in the bathroom and nothing was done about it, so I went to buy air freshener and toilet cleaner. This is the only minus of our stay.
“My tip: I was told the last day of our stay by a local that it was possible to rent bicycles at the hotel. There was no notice about it. Pity.”

The beds were comfortable, and the room was very clean and hygeinic. There was a large selection of programs on the TV, and I liked the way the key to the room operated all the electronics.
The WIFI was very poor. As a person who uses the internet to connect with friends back home, this was a big inconvience and disappointment as I could hardly check social networks or contact family without the WIFI disconnecting every 5 seconds.
“My tip: make sure to buy two holed plugs as the hotel does not provide any and make sure to save your mobile data before coming here.”

Great place of town!
“My tip: Some say the breakfast is expensive but it is a good option if you have to go out early because every store or café is just closed at that time. ”

Goede locatie, op loopafstand van zowel het centrum van Groningen als ook het centraal station.
Kleine kamer, maar voldoende voor een of twee overnachtingen. De inrichting was erg spartaans

Beautiful comfortable beds, great shower, really effective curtains and good air con for overnight.
No mini fridge in room, very small room, no outlook from our window

Close to centre of town. Good reception by staff. Personalised WiFi access.
Varying daily tariff over the period of stay. Total price quoted should preferably reflect tourist tax - to avoid unpleasant surprise when checking out. Access to certain floors via bar rather inconvenient.

Very clean. Great location, walking distance from De Oosterpoort, markets and Groninger Museum.
We were very dissapointed to hear that the private parking had a fee of 12,50 euros per day and that it was full. We had to par the car at a fee of 17 euros per day. Those unexpected costs are not a nice way to start you vacation. The staff wasn't very friendly or helpful in this. The room was okay but the double bed was just two single matresses put together (and as a couple that isn't great). Also the bathroom was so tiny that for Dutch people it was hard to even move there at all.

Great location, relaxed ambience.
“My tip: Don't miss the Groninger Museum. ”

Room wasn't clean: hairs from other guests in the bathroom and on the floor, a used shaving knive under the bed. Room was smal, bed was smal too (and short) Very noisy. Didn't get much sleep because of the noises from in- and outside the hotel.

The hotel is close to the centre of Groningen. Service en breakfast ware fine.
The hotel and the room are dated. The shower was very small
Other september 2012
Great location! Staff were very friendly and helpful! Had dinner at the restaurant which was very good.
One drawback was it was a little noisy at night from where our room was located - could hear people talking outside in the street and all hours of the night. Also, the wireless internet connection was not very strong in our room - had to go to the lobby to use internet.
“My tip: Try to get an inside facing room if you want a quiet night.”

Right in the centre of Groningen. You can't have a better place. Service and staff in the hotel were wonderful. They were always there, helpful and very friendly. Free bikes available for guests and the breakfast waws very good.
The room was quite noisy and could have been hoovered and cleaned a bit better.
“My tip: I would recommend the hotel if you want a central location and don't want to pay too much. ”

Lounge `come bar come breakfast room has a great ambience.Practical ,uncomplicated, effecient and very friendly service. This positive attitude to guest appeared authentic and not just going through the motions.-probably lies in the Dutch mentality. Centrally situated.
My assessment is based on just a one night stay.. -Room too warm,if i had stayed a second night i would have turned down heating
