Simplon Youth Hostel is the place to be for a great time in Groningen. The hostel is situated in the Ebbinge District, an area with a longstanding history of creative industry. Nowadays, many shops, companies and cultural institutions are established here, such as Simplon Poppodium, the Platformtheater and the Infoversum; a stunning new theatre with a 20-metre high screen in a dome where you can watch 3D films
The hostel with its unique courtyard is located in the heart of this vibrant area. Do you love shopping and going out? Then you're in the right place as the city centre is easy to reach on foot. It's also great to unwind in the Noorderplantsoen park or by the Hoornse Meer lake. Don't hesitate to ask the friendly reception staff for advice about fun day trips and more information; they're more than happy to help.
The attractive rooms, each decorated in a different theme, feature excellent box-spring beds and a television. Luggage lockers are available by the dorm rooms and there is also a laundry area with a washing machine and dryer.
Surroundings
The student city of Groningen has a unique atmosphere, mainly due to its large student population. Groningen offers fun activities to suit every taste, ranging from beautiful walking and cycling trips, to canoeing, canal boat tours, paintballing, indoor-climbing, laser gaming, Pitch and Putt miniature golf and kart racing. The city is also known for its cultural output with festivals such asEurosonic Noorderslag, Noorderzon and Swinging Groningen and venues including the Stadsschouwburg, de Oosterpoort, Simplon Pop Podium and Platformtheater.
Food and Drink
Breakfast is served daily from 07:00 until 11:00. Restaurant 'Eetcafe 73-2' is open for lunch on Monday to Saturday from 12:00 until 15:30, and dinner is served from 17:00 until 21:00. The dishes are attractively priced. Barbecues, hot and cold buffets and group menus can also be arranged for groups.

Good location, friendly non invading staff.
About as good as you can expect for the price, but maybe updating the shower pressure by investing in a nicer shower head.

Very near to one of the most beautiful parks in the center. All the service stuff was very polite.
A large group of very drunk guys(Dutch) was allowed to enter into the room very late. They were making a lot of noise without any consideration of the rest of the roomates. As expected from drunk youngsters they were cursing a lot, and using a lot of dirty talk that might have offended the females present. On the top of it, they started a farting orchestra where the noiser the funnier.
“My tip: Is a very nice place with nice stuff and service. However, I guess that if they cannot control issues as the above with some rules or warnings , it is matter of luck to be able to sleep or not.”

The location of the hostel was ideal, close to the city and parks. The hostel was great value for money and all the staff and fellow guests were friendly and helpful Groningen is a lovely city

What I really like in the hostel is that people were very nice and speak with others easily and so I can made new friends and even people who work at the hostel were really nice too.
What was not so good is that we can t stay in our dormitory during the day...

This is a convenient place for visiting Groningen and the area. The price is reasonable, the staff are very helpful. Our room was comfortable clean and quiet.
The only minus was that the coffee at breakfast time could be a lot stronger.

Very nice staff, I felt very welcome and was very impressed with the relationship with the restaurant downstairs where guests were allowed a dsicount
No major minus points, it's slightly away from the town centre, but other than that nothing to say.

The hostel is near the citycenter and has a nice Café.
If you need to stay very cheap it's okay, otherwise wouldn't go there.
They didnt have any Wifi for now. There is only one pc which could be a real problem, because everyone wants to use it.
At my stay (4days) I need to change the domitory second times.
