Hotel

The central location between Heerenveen and Leeuwarden makes Hotel Oostergoo Grou a popular destination for a visit to the water abounding province of Friesland. The renowned ice skating rink of Thialf is only a 25-minute drive away, and you can sail straight to the Alde Feanen National Park or the Friese Meren lakes from Grou.

The hotel rooms come with every modern convenience which combined with a unique ambiance provides a luxury hotel feel. The modernly furnished rooms offer an unobstructed view of either the water or the village of Grou. Each room has free WiFi, a flatscreen television, and a bathroom with a shower and toilet. The hotel also has a spacious family room, equipped with 3 or 4 beds and a spacious sofa bed.

Surroundings

Hotel Oostergoo Grou lies on the banks of the Pikmeer lake, (or Pikmar in Frisian), and on the well-loved sailing route of the 'Staande Mastroute' (Mast-up Route). Because of its location, this hotel is perfect for water enthusiasts. You can reach the hotel through waterways, but there are also plenty of opportunities for water sports from the hotel. For instance, you can hire the hotel's Oostergoo sloop, or a whisper boat from one of the local hire companies. For those lacking sea legs, the area of Grou also offers a diverse range of possibilities including walking and cycling trips through the unique Frisian countryside, such as the Alde Feanen National Park.

Food and Drink

Hotel guests can enjoy an elaborate breakfast buffet, which is served on weekdays from 07:30 until 10:00, and at weekends from 07:30 until 10:30. It also possible to have breakfast served in your room at a small additional charge. The homely restaurant serves lunch and dinner, and offers an extensive menu featuring seasonal dishes as well as an alternating monthly menu and a matching wine list. Lunch is available from 12:00 until 16:30, and dinner is served from 17:30 until 21:00. You can relish the memory of your dinner in the typically Dutch 'brown café' of d’Oude Oost, which incidentally, is named after the manager's great grandfather.

    Friends juli 2014

    Nice Location and good breakfast

Restaurant was closed because of a wedding and nobody told us before. We chose this hotel because of its waterfront location and the restaurants. Normally we travel with children and we enjoy to sit in the restaurant while the children are sleeping upstairs. When someone books a family room you have to tell him about the closed restaurant (the wedding was plannes long before )
