Hotel
Hotel Velsen has been a household name in IJmuiden since 1931; over the years it has expanded into 23 rooms. The country's best Greek restaurant is situated on the ground floor of the hotel since the recent renovation. The rooms located on various floors have also been renovated during the conversion and certainly live up to the comforts of our contemporary age.
All rooms at Hotel Velsen come with an ensuite bathroom with a shower and a toilet. In the hotel rooms, guests also have a cable television at their disposal.
Surroundings
Hotel Velsen is situated in the centre of IJmuiden. From here you can be at Schiphol Amsterdam Airport within 30 minutes, and at the recreational area of Spaarnwoude within 15 minutes. If you're more of an adventurer you can hop on the ferry to Newcastle, a stone's throw from the hotel. IJmuiden also has many opportunities for entertainment and amusement. This port has no less than 4 harbours, the largest sea locks in the world and the largest marina in the Netherlands. You can also visit the Forteiland IJmuiden on special days when it is open to the public.
Food and Drink
Guests can enjoy an elaborate breakfast buffet on weekdays from 06:00 to 09:00, and at weekends from 08:00 to 10:00. The hotel does not serve lunch, but a 3-course Dutch daily menu is served from 17:00 to 22:00. There are various restaurants in the direct vicinity if you'd rather have an international meal, including the Greek restaurant, located on the ground floor of the hotel. The hotel has a pleasant bar, which is open from 16:00 to 22:00.
