Hotel

The Hotel Au Quartier can be found in an 18th century mansion in an enclosed courtyard; it is siuated in the Jekerkwartier, a lovely part of the city of Maastricht, which is itself a beautiful city in the colourful south of Holland. The Vrijthof, the site of many historic attractions and many lively terraces, and the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwebasiliek cathedral are within walking distance, as are such attractions as the towngate Helpoort and the city's public gardens.

The hotel has 14 double rooms that all have their own specific character. The non-smoking rooms have a bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet and are equipped with a television and a telephone with an Internet connection. From the reception you can additionally obtain a hairdryer. The hotel's comfortable rooms combine the authentic, historic atmosphere of the building with a modern level of comfort and ambience. The hotel also has its own restaurant, named Petit Bonheur, where you can enjoy its delicious French cuisine. The intimate hotel bar is the place to go to for a nice drink, and in the morning guests can enjoy the tasty breakfast buffet.

Business travellers will appreciate the Hotel Au Quartier's facilities for business meetings: the hotel has a large and a smaller conference room. The first can seat up to 50 persons; the latter has room for 15 persons. In these conference rooms guests can of course use all the equipment that is needed for a meeting, such as a flip-over, an overhead-projector, and a projection screen. In the entire hotel there is also a free wireless Internet connection and at a small fee you may use the hotel's laserprinter.

Surroundings

Hotel Au Quartier is situated in the picturesque Jekerkwartier, an area in the city centre that is named after the river _Jeker _that runs through it. The hotel is within walking distance of all large historic attractions of the city centre. The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe cathedral and the medieval towngate _Helpoort _are less than 400 metres away from the hotel. The Vrijthof, the site of the St. Jans church, the St. Servaas cathedral and many lively outside terraces, is less than 300 metres away. The _Jekerkwartier _also has the atmosphere of a vibrant college town: a number of departments of the University of Maastricht is located here.

Food and Drink

In the morning the hotel sets up a breakfast buffet in the breakfast area. That way guests can start their day with fresh fruits, eggs, and orange juice, among other things. For a delicious meal you can visit the hotel's restaurant Petit Bonheur on the ground floor, a culinary restaurant that still breathes the atmosphere of an old city farmhouse. The kitchen and the interior are based on rich French traditions, with a delicious French menu and an extensive winelist. The restaurant is open daily from 18:00 to 22:00 h. You are recommended to make reservations in advance. On request, it is also possible for groups of 15 or more persons to have lunch in the restaurant. The owner and staff were very attentive and Staff welcoming and attentive. Room was comfortable with large bathroom and great shower. We fell in love with the courtyard restaurant which has excellent food and staff. Breakfast was candlelight with the unexpected pleasure of fresh squeezed irange juice.

Like most European cities parking for a car is not always easy to find and expensive. We were there during pleasant spring weather so it was not an issue, but i do not believe the hotel is air conditioned.

“My tip: Definitely dine at the restaurant.”

Very good location, but indifferent service.

Very nice location and very quiet. We slept very well.

The way we were recieves was very poor. Not personal at all. The televisionset is on the wall in a corner of the room. You couldn't watch television out of your bed.

“My tip: Stay on the first floor, then you have bigger windows.”

Charming Hotel in Heart of Maastricht

location is very strategic in city-center, the elevator is cool, old and heritage from the old time.

The room is not ready when we came at 15.00, breakfast without croissants and more self-service which is not I expected for 3-stars hotel.

Excellent hotel in a great location

The location was close to the old town area, the lift to get bags up to our room made an otherwise difficult task very easy, it had free internet access to the room, the shower was very good, breakfast was OK, heating in rooms worked well, staff were very friendly and helpful.

No tea and coffee making facilities were provided in the room, the wardrobe doors were difficult to lock/unlock, parking was expensive.

Location is excellent. Parking is close to the hotel. Nice restaurant.

Price/quality. For 125 Euro (incl. breakfast) I expected a bit more. The room was very basic, hot and there was a lot of noise coming from the street the whole night. Poor breakfast. No locked space for the bags after check out.

Hotel Au Quartier is a charming, authentic example of Maastricht.

The hotel was charming, with the design and decor totally in keeping with it's historic building. The rooms had lovely antique dressers, yet totally modern bathroom facilities. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. The location is near a main square, yet on a quiet side street. The lift was a major plus for us, as was the delightful breakfast - offered in style with a full array of fresh food, including a juice press and boiled egg bath.

    Friendly personnel, great location, clean

Windows are single-glazed, so noise from the street and a draft (in winter) is a minus. Also, I found that prices had been raised for everything, so I ended up paying more. Extra charge for breakfast is ridiculously high in my opinion.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel and in Maastricht. It was very clean, centrally located and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it and we will probably stay there on our next visit to Maastricht.

This wasn\'t a huge inconvenience, but traveler\'s might need to know that they should park temporarily on the side walk next to the hotel to unload luggage and then get directions from the reception desk on where to park the car. Doing a bag drag would be a bit of a pain. But the parking spot is worth going to.

Great location. Very charming hotel, clean and nicely furnished. Excellent restaurant with very friendly staff.

The double room actually contains two small beds completely separated from each other - not ideal for a couple.

Hotel is in an excellent location for the centre of Maastricht.Clean and comfortable.

We found the room very comfortable. However, if the weather had been very hot I think air conditioning would be useful. Also, there was a lot of noise in the street outside our room so we did not sleep very well.

very friendly, very clean, nice sheets. also wonderful service and cuisine in the restaurant. we loved our dinner under the evening sky

We would have preferred an actually double bed for comfort & romance rather that two twins. We wished we could have a locked space for our bags after check out but before our train since the train station only accepted Belgiun cards not MC or Visa to pay for lockers.

Great value for money, lots of character, good location

    1. We arrived in the evening and stood outside for 20 min ringing the doorbell; we finally had to call the restaurant from the street to get someone to open the door. 2. The instructions on where to park were very unclear 3. we were cold, there was no extra blanket in the room and when we complained about it the man only shrugged
