Hotel

Hotel Botticelli offers a unique slice of Italy in the heart of Maastricht. In fact, to be more precise: it's a slice of the Italian Renaissance, as the owners of the hotel were clearly inspired by Italian Renaissance art. The beautiful frescoes, the ornamental ceiling, and the use of Mediterranean colours create a very special atmosphere. Whilst enjoying a delicious cappuccino in the wonderfully furnished lounge or in the hotel garden, you'll be able to imagine yourself in a southern ambience. Friendly and helpful staff place guest satisfaction first and foremost, resulting in a popular accommodation for the critical guest.

The hotel has 18 romantic rooms that exude the same Italian atmosphere as the rest of the hotel. All rooms come with an ensuite bathroom with a shower and/or bath and feature a desk with a mini-bar, a television with a DVD-player, a telephone, a safe, and air conditioning. Furthermore, all rooms are decorated with stylish Italian furniture: almost all rooms feature beautiful armchairs and a coffee table. What makes the rooms extra special is the splendid use of colour and the many replicas of Italian (Renaissance) art.

Although the hotel itself has plenty in store to guarantee a pleasant stay, it also happens to enjoy a convenient location in the centre of Maastricht. Situated in a side street off the famous Vrijthof square, the hotel is only a few steps removed from the city's major attractions. Historical monuments such as the medieval 'Helpoort' and the Basilica of Our Lady lie within walking distance of the hotel. You just need to look around you for a good restaurant, and you don't need to walk far a memorable boat trip through the city or a sightseeing trip to the caves. Hotel Botticelli is therefore an ideal hotel if you're looking to enjoy a stay in Maastricht in every possible way.

Surroundings

Hotel Botticelli is located in the Papenstraat, a side-street off the Vrijthof, a popular square that is also home to the Sint-Janskerk Church, the Basilica of Saint Servatius, and many lovely terraces. This part of the centre is littered with historical attractions as well as pleasant cafés and renowned restaurants. Other places worth mentioning are the city park, the Cathedral of Our Lady, and the medieval city gate, the 'Helpoort'. What's more, the various different faculties of the University of Maastricht can be found in and around the hotel.

Food and Drink

An extensive breakfast buffet is served to hotel guests in the morning. In the beautifully decorated 'colazione', or rather breakfast room, you can enjoy delicious rolls, sliced meats and inter(national) cheeses. Breakfast is available on weekdays from 07:30 until 10:00. You'll find many restaurants for a good meal in the vicinity of the hotel. As a Burgundian city in the south of Maastricht, it's the ultimate destination for experiencing culinary delights in dining establishments that cater to an array of tastes and budgets. Staff at Hotel Botticelli will also gladly recommend a good restaurant.

I enjoyed my stay at the Botticelli. Charming!

Quiet, clean, comfortable rooms. Great breakfast service.

No bellman to help with luggage to upper floors. (No elevator.) I felt guilty asking for help. No valet parking. Parking in nearby public parking took a lot of extra time. Small window in street-side rooms. I understand the inner rooms have much more light.

Well designed hotel with attention to the smallest details; the dining room, the loby, and of course the magical yard with beautiful pond and scenary. The rooms are also well designed, clean, very big and most comfortable. Great location - just at the center of this beautiful city.

    - Exceptionally beautiful in Italian renaissance decor as only the Limburger Dutch can do. - Very close to the Vrijtof, 2 minutes by foot. - Elegant courtyard garden with fountain to sit and have a drink. - Owners and employees are very friendly and helpful.

-Rooms facing street are noisey, even on the top floor. - 16 Euros is excessive for the breakfast provided ! The breakfast price should be included in the room rate. Find a local cafe for breakfast for 8 Euros.

Reception was friendly. Nice small hotel located quite centrally. Relatively easy to get to by taxi from the train station. Our room was clean, quite large, and very comfortable. Nice patio/backyard. Meals are served but we didn\'t eat at the hotel.

The hotel doesn\'t have an elevator if you are on a high floor. The price is a little bit high for US tourists based on the poor exchange rate of the dollar at this time. There is no immediate parking if you have a car but you can use a nearby garage (2 minute walk).
