Hotel
The historic Posthuys was already in use as a restaurant, a place where cyclists enjoyed a rest with coffee and Dutch apple pie or a delicious lunch. The large barn of this former farm now houses comfortable rooms that are able to accommodate 1 to 4 persons. All rooms come with an ensuite shower and toilet. The hotel rooms do not have direct indoor access to the café-restaurant. The use of WiFi is limited in the rooms but guests are able to make free use of WiFi in the restaurant at all times.
From the hotel you can easily walk to the North Sea Beach and areas of unspoilt nature. The picturesque village of Oost-Vlieland offers a number of cafés, terraces, shops and supermarkets. The island's lighthouse stands tall on the 40-metre high Vuurboetsduin just outside of the village. It is also possible to climb the tower during certain times, and in doing so you'll be awarded with a stunning view of the island, the North Sea and the Wadden Sea.
Surroundings
The Posthuys is situated in west Vlieland approximately 7 kilometres from the village of Oost-Vlieland. You'll literally find the Kroonpolder bird area next to the Posthuys. Walkers, cyclists, nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet will certainly enjoy themselves on this island with its many shell paths. You'll also find plenty of access points to the beach along these paths allowing you to fully enjoy the island's peace and spaciousness. Flying a kite, surfing, reading your book in a dip in the dunes or building a sandcastle, it's all possible here!
Food and Drink
Enjoy breakfast with a splendid view of the dunes, a perfect start to the day. On a cycling trip around Vlieland, the Posthuys is situated halfway. You'll therefore encounter a pleasant buzz on the terrace on sunny days. There is plenty of choice for lunch with soups, salads, pancakes, hamburgers and sandwiches.
