Hotel

Hotel De Zeven Provinciën has existed since 1666. The former inn was named for the flagship of Admiral Michiel de Ruyter. In that year he came to the 'Texel rede'. In the 17th century, often dozens of ships waited here for a favourable wind and their departure was the beginning of many long voyages. The old heroes used to rest from their long sea voyages or wait for favourable winds in Hotel De Zeven Provinciën. In and around Oudeschild are several historical elements from the VOC period.

Hotel De Zeven Provinciën has changed over the centuries from a simple inn in a hotel that fully meets the requirements of today. However, sociability is still important and so is a good price-quality ratio. The hotel is located near the port where the Oudeschild fishing boats come in with their catch. Here you can board a shrimp cutter to fish for shrimp. The boats that offer trips to watch the seals sail with low water along the sandy banks. Oudeschild lies on the side of the Wadden Sea and this part is much sailed. A visit to the Maritime and Beachcombing Museum is a must.

Surroundings

The Texel landscape is beautiful in any season. A stay at this wonderful holiday island with its vast white beaches, sand dunes, picturesque villages with friendly cafés and restaurants that serve delicious fresh fish just never gets boring. Many kilometres of bicycle and walking paths invite you to explore the beautiful landscape. From Hotel De Zeven Provinciën Oudeschild you can take excursions to other places on the island. In Den Burg is a lively market every Monday morning and in the seaside resort De Koog you can shop and rest on a terrace, or visit the Ecomare centre for Frisian islands and North Sea.

Food and Drink

Enjoy the local bitter 'Juttertje' or a real Texel beer in the bar. There are delicious dishes, including fresh fish from the harbour and local artisan soups.

    Basic b b in a nice town

The location is fine, just a few minutes walk from the harbour. The Texelhopper request bus service stops just outside.

Quite expensive for basic accommodation. Bedsheets evidently made from sandpaper. I was surprised that the hotel restaurant did not serve food in evening, but there are plenty of options nearby.

“My tip: Oudeschild is probably one of the best places to stay in Texel. If you rent a bicycle you can reach anywhere on the island. The main town, Den Burg, is nearby.”

    ontspannen verblijf

Rustige ligging van het hotel. Wanneer je geen al te hoge eisen stelt is dit een prima plek om te verblijven.

    Bedden erg onstabiel.

Great value for money! Comes recommended.

An extremely good value-for-money hotel. Perfect service, friendly staff. Good location: next to the sea, close to the ferry.

Shared showers (as advertised). The beds aren\'t made for tall and/or heavy people.

    Texel by bicycles.

The staff and owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The meals in the restaurant, including breakfast, were excellent. For our purposes, the location allowed access to all that wished to do by bicycles on Texel. We truly enjoyed our stay and have recommended the hotel to our friends.

Limited number of rooms with private bathrooms.

We were very warmly welcomed, the hospitality was lovely. It's a very friendly place to stay. The homecooked food downstairs was reasonably priced and fantastic.
