    Nice place to stay

This hotel is really a docked cruise ship...so it's got great activities, nice restaurants and bars.

“My tip: try the ocean bar...and the main dining room, the cuisine is exquisite.”

Just a wonderful experience to be on board such a beautiful liner! The fresh appearance and excellence of the workmanship and preservation was a real pleasure. The cabin was spacious and comfortable (apart from the temp control -- see below). Apologies. I don't read Dutch and so some of the questions below I can't answer!

The only minus point was that the cabin (room) was too warm for sleeping. We tried to reduce the temperature using the temperature control and indeed some cold air came through. But it was slow and we had to keep the cabin door open to allow some cooler air to circulate from the passage way. Half-way through the night the temp was comfortable and we closed the door.

    Great ship.

Comfortable and clean. Interesting to be on a ship (which I was a passenger on in 1981).

The food in the Lido restaurant was too expensive and did not taste very good.

Very expensive, poor selection of food in restaurants.Staff wonderful

I can only praise the staff on SS Rotterdam for their kindness, help and professionalism. Every member of staff that I had dealings with were most helpful and are certainly an asset to SS Rotterdam.

Very expensive. Too far outside Rotterdam. Shuttlle Service should operate all day into late evening and not just for a few hours in the morning and a few hours late afternoon. Poor selection of food in the restaurants and very expensive. Bar did not have any nibbles(ie. peanuts or crisps) available and my wife and I were served a large slab of cheese with mustard which did not compliment our drinks.

Verwacht geen hotelkamer maar een scheepshut met beperkt uitzicht.

Mooie locatie. Goede bedden dus prima geslapen.

Kleine kamers, niet zo'n beste bewegwijzering, grote drukte ontbijt, parkeren prijzig.

“My tip: Mooie gelegenheid om musea te bezoeken.”

Experience a bye gone era in the heart of Rotterdam

An amazing experience, the minute you step off the gangway you know you are on a liner. Beds very comfortable. Bathroom is much larger than on most modern cruise liners. Tour of vessel is fantastic. Art deco onboard brings you back to 1950's

Breakfast buffet was not value for money. The food for breakfast could be a lot better. Music in the bar was very loud and it was difficult to speak.

“My tip: You must take the full ships tour. The book shop was excellent. The experience is fantastic if you like ships. Views from the decks of Rotterdam are excellent too. ”

One of the places to go before you die.

Great opportunity to stay in a place that the City of Rotterdam was all about: the biggest port in the world on a legendary ship inextricably linked with Rotterdam's legendary heritage.

    Can't think of any!

    “My tip: JUST GO THERE!”

A once only experience for the nautical enthusiast. The official ship tour is interesting, made all the better by former crew members providing commentary and insight. Teak decks thrive on a daily bleaching with clean salt water, a gradual deteriation is evident while sitting on the Maas. Reception staff helpful.

Main business focus appears to be the conference facilites. Hotel only participants face restricted access to large parts of the vessel. More could be done with the main reception area.

    A new, exiting experience-very worthwhile

Everything was just fine but there is one exception. Me myself being a former merchant navy officer do claim that the number 13 (as table no. or cabin no.or lifeboat) should not exist , the same as in an airplane for the seat or row number

I had room 2030 - on Wednesday morning I did inform the reception, personally, that 2 bulbs in the cabin were broken down. On Friday morning, when I left, nothing has been changed. Technical service ?? No idea

    Disappointing

Good sized rooms - ( outside cabin) Bathroom - fine wth separate shower.

Very disappointing, the place needed a good hoovering and the games machines outside our room were thick with dust. Far from a luxury liner it was more like a big ferry in character. A missed opportunity, it lacked the luxury wow factor that I was expecting- right from stepping on the ship - reception very uninteresting.

Unique experience, worth the bad service

beautiful and inspiring place. unusual, unique experience. looking at the stars at night from the deck was amazing.

The Service in the Hotel was terrible. The service at the hotel restaurant was even worse. But the beauty of the place offset the irritations

    A complete gem

The ship is so historic and the moment you walk on to it, it feels that you are taking a cruise!

Slow service in the Lido, and the location is a bit out of the way - but this lends itself to great views.

Surprisingly good access considering location - metro from Centraal station follwed by immediate 77 bus connection

Bed horribly soft with travelling matress - it moved at one end a half metre during the night and threw me out of bed one morning because it was by then totally unsupported. Breakfast price rediculous.

    A hotel with a difference!

Interesting place to stay, and very different from the usual land based hotel.

If you are staying on board because of what the SS Rotterdam once represented, you may be disappointed. All the former public rooms have been wonderfully restored - only problem is they are run by a separate company from the hotel operation, and most if not all will be locked, and you will not be able to visit. However, the 'tour' that is available, at a price of 16 Euros is quite good, taking in the bridge, the engine rooms, and much of the open deck areas.. We had an inside cabin - it was very hot, even though the control was set at the coolest! I would not stay on board again until the A/C is sorted out!

Lovely ship conversion, with great interior decor & ambience.

The conversion of the ship is superb

Only 2 rooms were open to us - the ocean bar and the lido. All the rest of the ship was off limits. In our "cabin", 2112, which was lovely, the air did not work at all, there was no way to make tea or coffee (no cups!) and noises from the lido outdoor deck above carried down to it.

    Not quite ship-shape...

Wonderful to stay on such a ship of state in Rotterdam. Tours available on board to see some Public Rooms, the Bridge, Engine room etc.

Housekeeping could be improved. Very limited Bar and Dining space. Nowhere to sit out of Bar/Dining opening hours. Ship/hotel has only been open 10 days so I expect things to improve.
