Surroundings

Hotel Empire Scheveningen lies on the outskirts of Scheveningen-Dorp. Fishermen and their families have been settling here since the 14th century. For centuries fishing has played a crucial role in the lives of local people. Nowadays you can eat and shop in the Keizerstraat, and there are more than 100 shops and many speciality restaurants. On the promenade at the beginning of the Keizerstraat is a sculpture of a fisherman's wife who represents all of Scheveningen's women widowed by the sea. Close to the hotel is an original lighthouse, a beacon for ships at sea since 1875. Its rotating light can travel an ample radius of 53 km.

Food and Drink

Breakfast is served every morning in the hotel's breakfast area. It is not possible to have lunch or dinner at the hotel, but there are plenty of excellent places to eat out in the direct vicinity. On request, the hotel can provide you with a packed lunch, which you can take with you to the beach for instance. The Keizerstraat has quality restaurants including those specialising in seafood. On Scheveningen promenade are various nice eateries and seafood stalls. The beach pavilions are open during the summer, where you can have a drink and a bite to eat whilst enjoying a view of the North Sea.
