Surroundings
Within walking distance of Van der Valk Spier is the stunning nature reserve of the Dwingelderveld National Park, where you can take walks through its vast heathlands, woods and meres. An interesting sight is the radio telescope - over 50 years old - which is stood in the middle of this area and towers above the trees. The village of Orvelte, preserved in its original form, is also an absolute must to visit. The towns of Assen and Hoogeveen are only a 15-minute drive away, and great for shopping. There are many tourist attractions in the area that are perfect for families with children; including the Zuidlaren fairy tale park, and of course the Dierenpark Emmen Zoo.
Food and Drink
An extensive breakfast buffet is served in the restaurant from 07:00 onwards. You're also welcome to enjoy lunch here, the kitchen is open from 12:00. In the evening, you can dine in the modern and atmospherically furnished à la carte restaurant. Here guests from all over the world are able to enjoy national and international specialities in a French-Dutch oriented style. For children, a special 'Timo Toekan' menu has been compiled, and there is a special children's programme to keep them entertained.

Beautiful surroundinngs
No restaurants in walking distance Dwingeloo is 8 km away and has a lovely center with small restaurants and AH supermarket.

Schone ruime kamer, ruime badkamer, heerlijk aparte douche met losse douchekop. Goed te ventileren.
De matrassen kunnen uit elkaar schuiven, niet zo gezellig :-).

Serve personel (Lady sorry cant remember her name ) who checked us in was really great, fast, very efficient, gave us the things we requested. really good!
Room had damp and the wall paper coming off (room 206) not so nice for 90 euro per night!

Nice and friendly and quick service. Good staff on tis hotel! Was there on a cycling race with my team.
I paid for a 'luxury suite¨ because the hotel was amost full but it wasnt easy to see the difference on the other rooms.
