The beautiful region between the two provinces of Groningen and Drenthe are wonderful to explore while staying in the City Hotel Stadskanaal. Bike hire is available at reception, as well as several free cycling routes. You can store your bike free of charge in the secure and covered bike shed. The luxurious rooms feature a modern interior with twin beds, a television, free tea and coffee facilities and a bathroom with underfloor heating. What's more, the hotel offers good facilities for business events.
A 30-minute drive from City Hotel Stadskanaal will take you to sights such as the Klooster Ter Apel, Westerbork, the Blauwe Stad and Wildlands Adventure Park Emmen. Given that Stadskanaal is near the German border, why not visit Schloss Dankern, celebrated for its castle garden. And there are plenty of trails in the area for those who love walking and cycling. A trip through the Drentsche Aa region will take you past brooks, farms and beautiful meadows. And if you're staying with children, it's fun to visit the Boomkroonpad in the woods of Gieten-Borger.

The City Hotel Stadskanaal lies within walking distance of the centre, the market, Geert Teis Theater and various restaurants. Nearby areas such as the Hondsrug, the Drentsche Aa and the former peat colonies are perfect for longs walks and bike rides. A 30-minute drive will take you to Assen and the TT circuit, the centre of Groningen, Wildlands Adventure Park Emmen, the monastery in Ter Apel or Westerbork Memorial Centre. The castle garden of Schloss Dankern in Germany is also easy to reach.
Food and Drink
An extensive continental breakfast buffet is available from Monday to Friday between 07:00 until 10:00, and on Saturday and Sunday between 08:30 and 11:00. The restaurant is on the ground floor and has an outdoor terrace on the Raadhuys square. Open daily for a cup of coffee, lunch or a daily special, not to mention delicious à la carte dishes. Coffee, drinks and aperitifs are served in the bar until 01:00.
