Simply relax and unwind at Kasteel Schaloen, nestled in the hills of Limburg and situated close to Valkenburg. Take a walk or a bike ride through the surrounding nature area or enjoy a day at the nearby Thermae 2000 spa centre. The castle complex offers hotel rooms in the former levy building, holiday homes in the coach house, a brasserie in the old gatehouse, and free WiFi.
The castle is surrounded by a moat which is home to carp and other species of fish. It's also possible to ice-skate here during the winter months. The hotel rooms come with comfortable beds, a cosy sitting area, tea and coffee facilities, a radio and a television. You'll also have a lovely bathroom with a bath/shower combination at your disposal. The toilet is situated by the entrance to the room.
The cosy holiday homes are located in the castle's annex. The ground floor features a living room with a television, a fully equipped open plan kitchen or kitchenette, and a toilet. The top floor has two or three bedrooms and a bathroom with a bath/shower combination. Most of the holiday homes offer a view of the courtyards at the front, and at the back a view of the castle moat with meadows, woods and hills behind it. The holiday homess also come with a garden furniture set allowing you to sit outside in comfort.
Surroundings
Kasteel Schaloen is situated close to Valkenburg in the hills of South Limburg. The castle grounds border the Sint-Jansbos woods. A 20-minute walk through the woods will lead you to the centre of Valkenburg, passing a playground and a bowling alley along the way. Furthermore, the woods are home to a petting zoo and a fish pond. The Valkenburg region is also renowned for its many Christmas markets. You can easily take a day trip by car to Maastricht, Aachen and Cologne (Germany) or Liège and Tongeren (Belgium).
Food and Drink
Breakfast is served in your room at your desired time. You can delight in good food at the Brasserie in the gatehouse on the castle grounds. The brasserie, with its own terrace, is the ideal place to enjoy a beer, wine, appetizers or a delicious meal.
