The historic city centre of Leeuwarden is within walking distance of the Oranje Hotel Leeuwarden. For a nice view of the city you can climb the 40 metres high 'Oldehove' tower in summer. Because of the soft soil this tower is slightly slanted and is called the Frisian 'Tower of Pisa'. Parts of the old city walls and moats are monumental, as are various residences, churches and even parks. In the centre of Leeuwarden there are many cafés and other venues for a night on the town. A fun way of exploring the surroundings is by taking a boat tour: there are many places where you can rent a boat.Food and Drink
An extensive breakfast buffet is available daily in the atmospheric Brasserie Oranje. Breakfast is available on Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 10:00, and on Saturday and Sunday until 11:00. Brasserie Oranje in the hotel is also the perfect spot for lunch or dinner, or a delicious coffee or glass of wine. The menu features tasty dishes stemming from French and Dutch cuisine, with a Frisian tint. The menu changes regularly. Brasserie Oranje is also an excellent choice for drinks on a Friday afternoon, serving good wines and tasty snacks that will hit the spot after a busy working week. You can also enjoy a High Tea in the afternoon (upon reservation).
