Very friendly host, great breakfast, very comfy room and we love the jacuzzi.
In 1878 the Het Heerenhuys Ruinerwold was built as chic residence for the family doctor. Nowadays it's a pleasant place to stay for peace-seekers and pleasure-lovers. The location on the Drenthe countryside is more than beautiful and obviously provides peace and relaxation. The hotel is situated on beautiful private grounds and weather permitting, guests can enjoy the beautiful garden at the rear.
All five rooms are individually decorated in a stylish and trendy manner, while still in harmony with the history of Het Heerenhuys. Each room has a luxurious private bathroom with bath and/or shower and a toilet. Furthermore, the spacious rooms each have a comfortable, large bed and a flatscreen television with a DVD player. Three rooms are on the first floor and offer a nice view of the Drenthe countryside with its typical farmhouses.Surroundings
Nice bike trips from the Heerenhuys Ruinerwold are abundant, for instance to the scenic areas Dwingelderveld and Reestdal. The brink Havelte villages and Ruinen are very typical for the area, and so is the town of Meppel. The largest megalithic tomb in the Netherlands is in Borger, iaccompanied by thirteen other megalithhic graves. In the megaliths centre in Borger, fun and interesting information about those 5000 years old burial vaults can be obtained. Water lovers can go to the nearby national parks Weerribben or Wieden.Food and Drink
Every morning, breakfast is served between 07:00 and 10:00 h. in the cozy breakfast room of the hotel. Packed lunches are available in consultation. The hotel has no restaurant or bar, but nearby are many good and affordable eateries, for instance in the cozy town of Meppel just 5 kilometer away. The guests can make use of the transport service of Het Heerenhuys.
