Hotel Merici is an unusual accommodation. The hotel is established in a splendidly renovated cloister in the very heart of Sittard. The city's sounds and busyness are drowned out thanks to the thick walls of the former Ursuline boarding school. The name 'Merici' comes from the founder of the Company of St. Ursula, Angela de Merici. Between 1843 and 1946, girls were educated in the adjacent buildings of the hotel, and the Merici is one of the seven special monuments of the Cloister Quarter. Hotel Merici furthermore serves a delicious breakfast buffet every morning.
After a day out in Sittard, it's wonderful to sleep in the harmoniously furnished hotel rooms. All rooms come with excellent beds, coffee facilities and a bathroom with a rain shower and a toilet. The rooms feature a minibar that can be stocked on request. Hotel Merici also has an underground in-house car park and offers bike and scooter hire.
SurroundingsClearly visible from the back of Hotel Merici Sittard is the historic Dominican Wall near the fields of fire and the old canals. A 15-minute train journey will take you to the splendid city of Maastricht, and it's 45 minutes to Eindhoven. Sittard's railway station is a 10-minute walk from Hotel Merici.
