Hotel

The Townhouse Hotel is housed in a typically small and monumental Amsterdam canal house that dates back to 1689. From this great spot within the ring of canals in the heart of Amsterdam, it is easy to reach all well-known attractions of this extraordinary city. The romantic small streets in the direct vicinity lend themselves perfectly for a stroll.

From a number of rooms you have a beautiful view of the canal. All hotel rooms offer a warm atmosphere, comfortable beds, a hair dryer, washbasin, safe, television and coffee and tea making facilities. Most rooms have a private shower, but all rooms have shared toilets that are cleaned several times a day. The hotel also has an annex, which is located at a 2-minute walk. Guests can be booked into this annex as well.

Surroundings

Just 500 m from the Townhouse hotel is the lively 'Rembrandtplein' (Rembrandt Square). There are many bars, restaurants and entertainment venues here, where you can party into the early hours. The 'Waterlooplein' square, with it's daily flee market, and the atmospheric 'de Pijp' area are also within walking distance of the hotel.

Food and Drink

In the hotel no breakfast or dinner is served, but in the immediate surroundings you will find numerous restaurants; for instance in the street around the corner. The variety is so great, that it will not be a problem at all to find something that will suit your taste and budget.

Very nice service was upgrade to a better room since they had so without any more payment, Near whats needed of resturants and transport around in Amsterdam. No sound from street.

Convenient location, Great Staff, Average Room

The staff was amazing! They went out of their way to be helpful. This is definitely they kind of accommodation you book for the location and plan to be out of your room most of the time - very convenient, the room - just OK.

The E$139 we paid for Friday night seemed acceptable - given the location, but the E$!89 and $199 they wanted for Sat. & Sun to me was too much for the room.

Ideal for a short break

Very easy to find using information provided by the hotel in advance. The location was ideal near shops, cafes and close to transport links. The water was hot in the shower and I was pleased to have a kettle, tea and coffee - unusual in Europe. Staff were very helpful.

I did find the central heating so the room was lovely and cosy but I had to look for it behind the bed under the window. The walls in the room could do with a coat of paint.

Standard rooms in a great location!

The room was neat and tidy on arrival. I was very happy about the location which gave us lovely views over the canal. The shower and basin were fine and the TV was a good plus point to have to listen to music etc. I would stay again it says what it does on the review, it was an affordable triple room for a five day trip!

The noise was quite loud in the mornings and often the cleaning staff came very early so we missed our slot and were awoken prematurely. The top covers were not washed like the sheets and a friend did find some short black hair. The loo was shared with four other rooms so meant you had to open the loud creaking door at night and leave the door open or take the key with you. We did not get our cups cleaned or replaced which was a down point but otherwise i really did enjoy our stay.

budget no frills 'hotel' a bit far from center of town.

Quiet neighborhood.

Reception/check-in at different hotel across the street. No toilet in room (shower and sink in room.... odd!) Very narrow beds. Further from train station then I thought it would be.

fine stay, sad entrance and first impression

Nice welcoming at the reception. Room clean. In general a fine small hotel and fine value for the money.

Entrance area (carpets and paint) is dirty and gives a sad impression. It would be nice to be able to order street facing room in the booking menue.

Couldn't have been any better!

The Townhouse is a mere 10 m from the tram stop. I checked in at the ITC right across the street. My room was ready early which was a bonus. I was in a private single room #25 on the 1st floor. The hotel is \"smoker friendly\" just make sure you open the window! I The hotel is within 15 minutes of the Leidsplein, Waterloopein and the Rembrandtplein. Give the Townhouse a try and hopefully you\'ll be as happy as I was!

The stairs, all though steep as usual, were very manageable.

Exceeded expectations for a hostel/budget hotel

Excellent location, within walking distance of all main attractions (15-20 mins to central station). Reasonably clean and rooms were cleaned each day of stay. Friendly staff at check-in, took time to highlight where all main sights were and how to get to them

No toilets in rooms is a negative. Had to change room after 2 nights of a 4 night stay. No kettle in first room and hairdryer broken.

Location is great. Very easy to get to from Centraal Station (right next to a Tram 4 stop). Staff is also very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Know what you\'re paying for and you won\'t be disappointed. This isn\'t a glamour hotel, it\'s just a good place to crash after a long day of exploring the city.

Personal very kind and professional about EVERYTHING you could need

Rooms really small, broken doors.....like a youth-hostel, but much more expensive.....for much less, next time I will look for a \"Bed and Breakfast\"

Excellent service and human approach :-) Thank You, Fatima, we really enyoed our stay in Amsterdam!

In the deep night, I just didn\'t enjoy the journey to the other floor because of the toilet... But staying directly in the center of Amsterdam in such a nice and tidy hotel is worth this little inconvenience. :-)
