Hotel
The distinguished Amstel InterContinental Amsterdam marks a pinnacle of style and beauty, and is situated on the banks of the river Amstel. The central location extends to the heart of the financial, cultural and recreational centre of Amsterdam. The hotel is easy to reach by car and offers excellent parking facilities.
Within walking distance, you'll find the Van Gogh Museum, the Stedelijk Museum, the Rembrandtplein and Theater Carré. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is only 20 minutes away by public transport.
The Health & Fitness centre and Business Centre are open 24 hours a day and offer excellent facilities for the business traveller. You can relax in style, thanks to a good range of fitness equipment in a peaceful setting. The swimming pool, sauna, Turkish steam bath, hot tub and massage facilities all lie at river level.
Surroundings
The Amstel InterContinental Amsterdam Hotel is located in the heart of the historical centre, within walking distance of the city's major sights and attractions. The location is perfect for visiting the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Rembrandtplein. What's more, you can see a show at the Theater Carré, which is just around the corner from the Amstel Hotel.
Food and Drink
Restaurant La Rive is an experience in itself. La Rive offers you a beautiful view of the River Amstel. In the Amstel lounge or on the terrace, you can enjoy light meals with stunning views of the city's canals. Dinner can be enjoyed during a canal cruise on one of the antique, classic saloon boats. Breakfast can be enjoyed in several settings: in La Rive restaurant, the Amstel Lounge, by the swimming pool in the Health Club, or in your room. The Amstel Hotel also offers the option of 'petit déjeuner à la carte' which includes specialities from all over the world. While the English celebrate tea as their national beverage, the tea drinker may be reminded that these dried leaves first arrived in Amsterdam in 1610. They were presented to the House of Orange, the Dutch Royal family. And at the Amstel Intercontinental Hotel, you too can enjoy a Royal Amstel Afternoon Tea with exclusive treats created by the chef. For more information, please contact the hotel.

Excellent hotel, decor and staff
I have problem with billing. It seems that my daughter and I have both paid the hotel separately for one room for one night. We are trying to sort it out with the hotel

Warm receptions from everybody starting from your doorman to reception always make me feel I am coming home. I have stayed in many hotels around the world in my life including other Inter-Continental group hotels but I only have two hotels which I like the most and always feel at home there. The other is the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong.

Very clean, great bathroom and comfortable bed.
We kept being disturbed when in our bedroom and for the price the standard needed to be a bit higher.

A most welcoming hotel with the most pleasant staff.
A little too far from centre however possible advantage is that it was pleasantly quite at night.

The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great, we had a lovely room overlooking the canal, a lovely stay. The leisure facilites are very luxurious too.
The only minus point is that it is very expensive, would love to know if you do any weeekend packages or \'deals\'.

the concierge service is outstanding as is the reception personnel.
we almost found none except that the gym, while well equipped, is a little small.

A lovely location, and a bonus was the use of the hotel\'s boat for an interesting trip on the river. The hotel is a perfect size, not too big and impersonal, but excellent service.
