Hotel
A number of historic buildings make up the Avenue Hotel. Part of these premises even dates back to the 17th century. An interesting fact about the building: during the Golden Age it was used as a depot by the 'V.O.C.' (United East India Company). Since that time the building has had many different owners and served different purposes. It has now turned into a modern hotel, that is up to contemporary standards. The rooms are divided over the different parts of the hotel so they all have a unique style and shape. In these comfortable rooms you will find a hair dryer and a bath or shower. You can reach all floors by elevator.
Discover numerous sights in the vicinity of the Avenue Hotel: the 'Begijnhof' (Beguines? court), the 'Dam', Madame Tussauds, the Red Light District and several shopping streets can be reached on foot. The hotel staff will gladly answer your questions about the public transport system or give you tourist tips.
Surroundings
The modern Avenue Hotel is located in the heart of Amsterdam. From the hotel it is just a short stroll to get to the shops in the 'Kalverstraat', the 'Nieuwendijk' and 'Magna Plaza'. There are a number of interesting sights in the vicinity of the hotel as well. You can visit the 'Begijnhof' for example. This 14th century court is a former Beguines' court, it still houses the English Reformed Church. Or learn about the best known hiding place of World War II in the 'Anne Frank Huis'. Be sure to visit the 'Dam', which is the most popular Amsterdam square. In this area there are numerous sights, such as the wax statues in Madame Tussauds, the 'Koninklijk Paleis' (royal palace), the National Monument and the well known Red Light District.
Food and Drink
The extensive American breakfast buffet in the Avenue Hotel guarantees a good start of your day. On weekdays the breakfast room is open between 07:00 and 10:00 h. During the weekend the breakfast is served between 07:30 and 10:30 h. Have you spent a full day in and around Amsterdam? Then it is time to relax and visit the St.Jacob Street Café for a nice drink or snack. This bar is named after the adjacent street. The bar is open from 17:00 to 00:00 h.

Great location, within walking distance of most attractions that Amsterdam has to offer. Friendly, welcoming staff and the breakfast choice is good which sets you up for the day.
Nothing negative to say about this hotel as I ve stayed here before except the cost of a room goes up year on year. I wouldn t say the hotel is great value for money that it was say 5 years ago.
“My tip: Ask for a quiet room on a high floor.”

As above
We were put in room 207 that has a very noisy air conditioner even one that was switched off. We requested a quiet room when we booked. We could not sleep. We complained the following morning and were not offered an alternative room until later that day i insisted that we were moved. No customers should be put in this room. This spoilt our visit. There was no offer of compensation.

The location is ideal. Staff were helpful. The breakfast was delicious.
The room was hot, although the weather outside was not. The window doesn't open, so you had to run the airconditioner. Not a big problem.

The staff at the reception was very friendly and extremely helpful.
The hotel is situated right in the town center, five minutes walking from Centraal Station.
The bathroom in our room could do with some renovation.
“My tip: I can recommend the Scheepvaart Museum, very special and interesting.”

This hotel is in a great location, short walks to all the big locations in Amsterdam, approx 10 min walk to centraal station, 5 mins to Red light district, 5 mins to Dam square...for budget travelers, a great deal including a big breakfast with many options at some of the lowest prices in Adam for a full service hotel.
-depending on which room you get, it's pretty tight, not so comfy and tough to move, I could barely pull the chair out from under the writing desk because the bed is in the way.
-not too much in the way of extras or niceties, does have an ice machine but no way to bring a bucket up,
all ina ll a good place
“My tip: I love the restaurant Staalmeesters right by the University Van Amsterdam in the top of the red light district. The food is very good, reasonably priced and it's nice and cozy”

Really enjoyed our stay at Avenue Hotel. We asked for an upper floor quiet room which is what we got - not a great view from window, but at the back of hotel which is quiet.
Would happily stay there again

no plus points staff where very rude and 1 of the men who worked there was trying to flirt with my girlfriend.
they also double charged me and are denying responsablity and passing it on to hotels.nl and hotels.nl are passing the blaime back to the hotel, dont risk booking with either the hotel or hotels.nl
“My tip: dont waste your money when there is better to offer for cheaper”

The reception staff were brilliant...really helpful and my room was upgraded which was a lovely surprise.
Really didn't enjoy the breakfast but that may have been more down to the fact that my brain wasn't working after the night before.

Centrally located
Staff are friendly
- Be prepared to inhale some weed, the staff are having troubles preventing people from smoking weed in their rooms
- Somewhat expensive for what you get.

Very clean. Good value.
A single in all the senses of the word. Hope you are not tall. Breakfast was tolerable

Comfortable, good service, location is great for Central Station and city centre. Breakfast generous and reasonable quality. Good value only as a result of a last minute deal: I certainly wouldn't have paid the standard rate.
Room (on first floor) a little noisy - glad I brought earplugs! A bland hotel overall.

Have stayed at this hotel a few times due to the great location. Hotel has friendly staff. Decent breakfast included in price. Room was very clean and quiet. Comfortable bed.
A bit on the expensive side to what it was a couple of years ago but I would not hesitate using this hotel again. Would recommend.

GREAT location near Centraal Station and a tram stop- it was very easy to get all around the city to see and do many things.
Very pleasant staff! The breakfast buffet was quite good.
A little pricey for such a tiny room.
