Hotel

Dikker en Thijs Fennis Hotel Amsterdam is just 250 metres from the Leidseplein square which is teeming with cafés, bars and restaurants. The hotel lies around the corner from the city's main shopping area, close to over 70 art galleries and antiques shops in the Spiegelkwartier and a short walk from Amsterdam's world-famous museums. You'll be pushed to find a better location!

The famous chef H. Thijs and entrepreneur A.W. Dikker opened a shop in the Kalverstraat in 1915 before moving to the grand building on the corner of Leidsestraat/Prinsengracht in 1921, where they became renowned for selling caviar, lobster and oysters. The business later expanded into the celebrated hotel it is today.

Aside from an amazing location, The Dikker en Thijs Fenice Hotel offers every modern comfort you may expect from a 4-star hotel. All rooms come with a well stocked mini-bar, WiFi and a handy smartphone. Several rooms feature air conditioning. Most rooms furthermore offer a stunning view of the canals and the city. Rooms with a canal view are available on request at a surcharge. In the evenings, you can relax in Restaurant Thijs, set in a beautiful 18th century warehouse.

Surroundings

Shops, restaurants, theatres, cinemas and museums. You'll find it all within a stone's throw of The Dikker en Thijs Fenice Hotel. Also located nearby is a jetty for canal boats - the perfect way to explore this wonderful city is to travel by water. The Dikker en Thijs Fenice Hotel is easy to reach from Amsterdam Central Station. Simply take tram numbers 1, 2 or 5 and get off at the stop 'Prinsengracht'.

Food and Drink

Enjoy an elaborate breakfast buffet, available each morning in Restaurant Thijs. The restaurant serves a modern take on French cuisine and is open for lunch and dinner. A lounge and private dining area with a view of the Prinsengracht are located on the first floor of the hotel.

De ligging en het vriendelijke personeel.

Het geheel maakt meer een 3-sterren indruk dan de beloofde 4 sterren. Het ontbijt b.v. is wat karig.

We will come again, this hotel "ROCK´S"

Really one of the best hotels we ever get and we will advise it

Nothing was real bad, only that our room was to the street and it was noisy in the night, but "hey" thats the city :-))

    On average, nothing special..

Centrally located, the hotel was ok, nothing special to remember, will probably try another one hotel next time.

It was a very warm weekend in Amsterdam, unable to sleep in the morning, due to lack of aircondition, stayed on top floor, probably cooler further down...

    Excellent hotel, excellent location.

Excellent location. Surrounded by shops, restaurants, cafes. Everything within walking distance. No noise at night. Very clean, large comfortable room. Anything needed was taken care of. Would return to this hotel if visiting Amsterdam again and would recommend to a friend.

No bar or restaurant or drinking water available in hotel while we were staying there.

Ideal location for restaurants, shopping, and tourist attractions!!

Very large, clean, comfortable room, with a luxury feel. Friendly & helpful staff. Perfect location, central to everything!!! I will definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.

The bed linen (although lovely and crisp and clean) was has hard and scratchy: my daughter has sensitive skin and was covered in lumps from it. I also found it a bit like sand paper.

Nice hotel, breakfast poor and expensive

Very clean and comfortable with a great location. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Breakfast was far too expensive for what was served. I only ate breakfast once because at 12.50 I thought that the food available, and the amount allowed per personwas VERY poor value for money. I ate the supposed large breakfast not the small one for 6.50. We went to the Bakery and bought our breakfast fresh each day, for a fraction of the price you charged. We saw many of the hotel guests buying their breakfast either at the bakery, or in a nearby cafe. You should survey the number of guests who eat in the hotel and what they think. Long overdue for change of either price or food available. This was the ONLY bad point in an excellent stay with your hotel.

Overall very good & we'd come back again.

The hotel was clean & well maintained. We didn't have the hotel-breakfast because the hotel was well located & there were plenty of other places to eat. Also really easy to get to by public transport and well placed to walk to other places as well as being near a chemist. The night reception person was very friendly & extremely helpful. The room we had was big & they added an extra bed for our little person. Beds were comfortable, clean & the room was well equipped - We even had a kettle. Overall the place was worth the money (considering it was Amsterdam)and we'd come back again.

Pretty much all good but 2 points lost were on service & comfort: 1.The rooms facing the street were a little noisy (from the trams & late-night revellers) - double glazing wouldn't have hurt. No good if you're a light sleeper. 2. The morning receptionist wasn't at all nice and she preceeded to argue with a hotel guest over the phone.

Great hotel on a noisy location

Very big, and very comfortable room. The bed was really good. Also an excellent location to do the touristy things of Amsterdam. Not hat expensive, and very friendly staff.

The hotel is on a busy street and apart from the noise of trams, you do get a free concert of the Amsterdam Pub Closure Choir thrown in.
