Do not stay at the Quentin England

The hotel was very well located and the staff was very kind. We made some strong complaints to the staff and they handled it very well without getting defensive or rude.

We didn't have hot water in our shower the first morning and the internet did not work. There was also no soap in the bathroom, only a foam for "body and hair." The bathroom door was a hollow core door that slid into place, making you feel like you were in a closet not a bathroom. The room itself was tiny and made of paper thin walls. We could hear everything in the hallway and room next door. The price of the hotel was 258E, no breakfast. What a rip off.

The rooms I got was modern, with a street view.

The directions to the Hotel are not clear on their website. Need to give better directions for locating the hotel. It was very hard to find this hotel, for a first time person in Amsterdam. Took almost 2 hours. The bathrooms are poor, but at least still standard.

“My tip: Make sure you print out a map to find this place.”

    Great location

The desk clerk was very courteous. Sensing I was a bit old to lug my heavy suitcase to the top floor he kindly changed me room to a lower floor thus saving me some wind! I appreciated the kindness.

    No elevator.

“My tip: The breakfast is a bit bland.”

Friendly, Well located and adequate for budget accomodation

Good location close to Liedesplein center. Friendly staff and courteous service. Good price for time of year. Room was a budget single in the basement. No window but adequate if it's somewhere to lay your head after parting and coffee shops!

    Small room. Thin walls.

“My tip: Sports Bar for breakfast.....Bulldog for coffee shop. Buy a 24 hr tram pass available directly on any tram for good value. ”

    Great location, friendly staff

The Quentin England Amsterdam is in an amazing location, just off the Leidseplein, which has a great choice of bars and restaurants. The hotel staff were very nice and accommodating, and we were upgraded at check in.

The shower was almost falling off the wall which made using it a bit difficult, and our double bed consisted of 2 singles pushed together which is not what we expected.

“My tip: We loved Gauchos- the Argentinean restaurant on the Leidseplein. Had amazing steak and red wine!”

    Simple but good location

No traffic noise, a peaceful location. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was simple but enough, it cost 7 euros. The room was clean but simple (just one clothes hanger per person). Ask for a non-smoker room.

A very steep staircase, not for people with bad legs. The walls were paper thin: at the night a neighbour came home at 5 o´clock in the night and we awoke. In the bathroom the electric contact box was not shielded and it was located by the shower: a potential risk for death! In the bathroom there was mold in the ceiling, so be aware if you are allergetic to it. The double bed was ok, but the third bed for a 183 cm long teenager was too short.

“My tip: Take your own clothes hangers with you as well as your own hair dryer if needed.”

    Great location, great bed!

    Location is perfect!

Room is small, but that how is it in Amsterdam. Service is great for the nordic point of view - I'm sure small talk-orientaded persons might find service too passive.

You'll enjoy Amsterdam a lot more staying somewhere else!

Ive stayed at this hotel before and it is a decent hotel except our stay wasnt too pleasant this last time.

I understand we stayed here during the week of Queen's Day so prices were going to be higher but we were over charged for a bed in an attic. The door couldnt even open two thirds of the way because it would hit the bed. My wife and I each had only one suitcase and with our bags there was never no room for the both of us to get dressed in the morning at the same time. There was no ventiliation in the room except for a skylight which if you opened it would cause dirt from the hotel's roof to fall directly onto our bed. With all this said and the heavy price tag for our stay there was no wi-fi for the entire 5-day stay and we'd ask daily if it was fixed and they would say "tomorrow".

nice place, both the hotel and the area, kind staff

some repair of the inside could be much better, and also the cleaning, and a lot of stairs to the room

    Friendly & cheap

Cheaper than the rest and happy to book for just one night. Friendly helpful staff. Luggage room so you can leave your bag and see town on your last day. 24 hr reception.

I stayed in the cheapest room, so I have no idea what their nicer rooms are like: My room was pretty basic and compact, but they made that clear when I booked it. The only slight gripe I would have is that the sound insulation between the rooms in the basement isn't great and the stairs down there are pretty steep. It suited me because I wanted to spend as much time as possible seeing Amsterdam and as little time as possible seeing the hotel!
