Hotel

Ghent is a tourist draw thanks to its historic attraction-studded town centre. Gravensteen is a 12th century medieval fortress, and its defence system remains virtually intact. In the city, you will also find a number of medieval churches, such as the Saint Bavo Cathedral, and the churches of St. Nicholas, St. James and St. Michael.

The hotel has an atmospheric bar and a cosy lounge where guests can unwind. For relaxation or some exercise you can visit the hotel's sauna and free gym, which features a treadmill and a home trainer. The personalised hotel rooms are fitted with modern conveniences including an ensuite bathroom, individually adjustable heating, a television, a telephone and a mini-bar. All rooms come with wireless internet.

Surroundings

The city has three beguinages: The Begijnhof O-L-V Ter Hooie, the Oud Sint-Elisabethbegijnhof and the Nieuw Sint-Elisabethbegijnhof. You'll also find a number of guildhalls situated on the Graslei, showcasing various architectural styles.

Food and Drink

A varied and sumptuous breakfast buffet is served in the attractive breakfast room, De Morgenstond. In hotel bar 'De Donjon' and in the lounge you can enjoy a Belgian beer or another kind of drink. The hotel itself does not have a restaurant, but you'll find a good choice of restaurants in the direct vicinity.

The location is wonderful, and I consider it good value for money. We stayed two nights, and probably should have stayed for three. I will be recommending a 3 day stay at the hotel and a Gent Three Day City Pass to go with it, as a very good value for money holiday to friends.

Nothing that is important. Though, consider as an option, not having breakfast in the hotel. There are plenty of very attractive places, if you like watching the world wake up, nearby.

“My tip: Allow yourself plenty of time at the nearby castle.”

A great hotel in the centre of the historic part of Ghent.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location was perfect as it was right across from the Count's castle.

We had some trouble adjusting the temperature of the room.

“My tip: Waterhuis aan de bierkant (The Waterhouse on the beerside), Groentenmarkt 9 (near the Castle) has 400 different kinds of beer.”

    Convenient location

Reaction of the staff to the A/C failure described further below. Location very convenient.

The A/C in the allocated room did not operate. The room was situated on the south side and rather hot. Missing remote A/C controllers in rooms. The receptionist responded by allocating another room. The A/C also not functioning but room cooler and rather comfortable.

Nice and romantic hotel a little bit overprised

Nice place, comfortable and tidy. Beautifull surroundings.

Although price for *** hotel was very high (around 90 euros, and out of season), breakfast was charged extra for 16 euros per day. Since they offered just eggs, bacon and some french pastry combined with weak coffee and only two kinds of juice I consider it rude and too expensive

“My tip: Don't take breakfast in the hotel, there are plenty of small restaurants offering brunch for reasonable prices nearby.”

    Not again

    spacious room.

Stylish hotel facade unfortunately doesn\'t match the hostel- type room in the annex we were put in. Noisy inner court and squeaky garage doors opening all through night.

Not bad but could do a lot better.........

Location was perfect for exploring Gent. The staff on the front desk very friendly and helpful. Breakfast good (if you where up early enough : see below). Room very nice and very comfortable. We staryed in the very top with a nice balcony opver looking the ack yard.

We stayed with other friends and the facilaties (bar, Lounge etc)where virtually none existant with the front desk girl also running the small bar. The hotel was really like a \"Room Only\" accomodation. Second day the breakfast was really good with bacon, eggs and a big selection of continental breakfast. The first day there was no bacon and eggs so if you like a cooked breakfast make sure your up very early.

    Location Location!!

We were directed to an other building than the mainbuilding. Looked not so much like the photos and we had two 1 person beds instead of a double bed. But that was maybe because I didnt ask explicit for that.

The breakfast was great, the location was great, it was verz quiet at night, the price was reasonable for what we received.

The onlz minus is that the shower in our room was under a sloped ceiling in a high bathtub and it was difficult for us to have to sit down to shower and then try to get out of the tub when we were finished. It would probably have been easier for younger people than we are.

Very efficient friendly hotel. Well appointed rooms.Superb location and helpful staff.

No real minus points at all. The Breakfast room does get rather chaotic at the w/end due to lack of staff and the buffet runs out quite often. Weekdays are much better.

Perfect location. Pleasant breakfast. Friendly staff.

We got the last two rooms on this occasion which were rather cramped. We got two double rooms despite having ordered one twin and one double.

Beautiful location, good breakfast and a very beautiful hotel.

Some lights were broken in the room and my girlfriend\'s wallet dissappeared from the room (containing 200 euros)

    Great location!

Only real complaint is about the bar, I have never stayed at a hotel where they had run out of wine!
