+ zentrumsnahe,doch ruhige Lage in angenehmem Stadtviertel (aber da gibt es auch viele andere Hotels, die vielleicht besser sind)

- - sehr laut (bis 4 Uhr früh Betrieb auf dem Flur, laut knallende Zimmer- und Toilettentüren, Ventilatorengebrumme und lautes Knacken in irgendwelchen Leitungen) - extrem weiche Matratze - ungepflegter Gesamteindruck (schmuddelige Teppichböden und Möbel, Löcher und Brandflecken auf Möbeln, Decken Vorhängen) - voller Preis wird schon bei Anreise, bevor man das Zimmer gesehen hat, kassiert, Erstattung kaum möglich (mind. 2 volle Tagespreise Gebühr), Austauschzimmer nur gegen erheblichen Aufpreis, keinerlei Entgegenkommen - übler Service: bei Ankunft reklamierte kaputte Birne an der Waschbeckenbeleuchtung wurde 1 Woche lang nicht ausgetauscht TIPPs: Keinesfalls Zimmer 5 (EZ) nehmen, es liegt sowohl direkt neben der Etagentoilette als auch über der Küche, beides klingt aber, als sei es IM Zimmer. Bei Ankunft nicht wie verlangt gleich den vollen Preis bezahlen. Als ich nach der zweiten Nacht entnervt um- oder ausziehen wollte, war die Bereitschaft, mir in irgendeiner Form entgegenzukommen gleich Null.

+ Sehr ruhig, wenn man die Superlage direkt an Melkweg, Paradiso, Leidseplein etc. betrachtet. Schöner Frühstücksraum, große Handtücher, sehr netter Service, kein Problem, zu jeder Tages-und Nachtzeit ein- und auszugehen. Super- und Biomarkt um die Ecke.

- Die Betten sind ziemlich weich. Das Frühstücksbüffet ist zwar gut, aber es gibt nur Toastbrot, davon muss man ziemlich viel essen, um satt zu werden.

+ Nice location, nice service, small room for a reasonable price. Even with tv, luxury! Price was cheaper than that of double-bedrooms at hostels, so a very wise choice.

- Walls are a little thin, though. But for that price you can't expect the Hilton. Very recommendable, anyways.

+ For the price a great stay, friendly staff and breakfast. Novel (very Dutch) staircase - read 'steep'. Location close to Leidseplein (5min walk), but far enough to be quiet. Leidseplein has most things you might need including a big tram stop. Close to Vondelpark and museum precinct. Close enough to walk to city centre. I would stay there again.

- None in my opinion.

+ -zeer propere kamer en sanitair (ondanks de gedeelde wc - en doucheruimte)

- -De zeer steile trap (geen lift) -veel lawaai - en geurhinder van de gasten in de kamer naast ons (vooral 's nachts) => wij hebben met oordopjes in onze oren geslapen.

- Zeer steile trappen. Hotel verouderd. Bedden waren schoon maar voor de rest liet de hygiëne te wensen over.

+ The staff and service was nothing short of great. The breakfast was awesome for an included meal. The establishment is clean and in a safe well lit area.

- The bed was a tiny bit soft but that's a personal preference. And the stairs are steep...but that's Amsterdam so if you don't know that then you need to read up. There is really nothing negative though. A bit far from central but the quietness is the best! A short tram ride there...no problem!

+ The staff is friendly and the room we were in was spacious enough and clean. The hotel is very well located 2mn from Leidsplein, 20mn from The Dam, 10mn from Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum in a calm area. The breakfast is included (it's not the Hilton buffet but it's fine).

- The stairs look a bit scary at first but there are not a problem at all actually.

+ Location ok, walkdistance from almost everything. Breakfast ok, not fantastic but ok.

- Small towels, 50 x 70 cm. not much for a grown man after a bath. No cleaning in room, we staied for 3 nights ??? No clean towels. Mousetrap in room :-(

+ Very close to Leidseplein / town. Towels/Sheets etc changed every 3 days. Helpful staff. Quiet location. Old building. Safety deposit box in room. Decent self service breakfast included in price. Good tram connections.

- Steep stairs, but look at the old architecture, tall narrow buildings, so steep stairs everywhere. Fine for younger people. Room was a little small... <10 sq metres. Poor metro connections.

Jo Ok, but a generally poor standard of cleanliness.

+ Nice location - near to Leidseplein and museum quarter. Fairly cheap but you get what you pay for...which isnt a great deal.

- * Breakfast very basic and orange juice was not fresh - it had separated. * Stayed in the quad room. Room had a musty smell - there was a plastic bag over the smoke alarm. Bathroom very very small - shower did not have an arm to hold it up so was resting on taps - had to hold it over yourself to shower. * Beds were very soft - although this isnt a problem for everyone, it was more like sleeping on pillows. Also matresses were not even so felt like you were going to roll off if you slept on one side. Gave me a very bad back. * Stairs are very steep. 5 flights and no lift. We stayed on top floor and the hotel staff did not offer to help with our suitcases. * Housekeeping was not very good. Only changed towels once during our 5 day stay and nothing else. * Wouldnt recommend to others.

+ Good value for the money. Breakfast is decent despite no fruit. Nice staff. Good showers even though they're shared.

- Walls are kind of thin, bring earplugs if noise bugs you. Minor quibbles: scary staircases, but nothing new there for Amsterdam. Toilet in hallway is REALLY tiny.

+ Pretty decent location. Not too far from a convenient tram stop and in a nice quiet neighborhood. "Close enough, but not too close to all the action". Staff was fairly helpful and the hotel itself had a bit of that Dutch charm. Windows that actually open!?

- 4 floors of Dutch stairs with no elevator. Top floor does not have a common shower, so you have to use the one on the 3rd floor. Bed and room was cleaned only 2 out of 3 days during my stay. A bit pricey for what you get. Like all Dutch single rooms, it was very small.

+ We (2 adults 2 children)had a 3 beds bedroom on the second floor with en-suite bathroom and balcony on the street side. - the decoration looked new and general condition of the room was rather good for an old building. - quiet (can sleep with the window open in summer) - clean, nice and soft bedlinen. - we found the location convenient for people who do not mind walking a bit. - service not proactive but always nice when asked. - breakfast room open on a small backyard with armchairs.

- - Basic furniture (functional but no particular character). - Be aware of the steep staircase (I guess typical of the old houses). - Not particularly cheap, but the breakfast is included and more like brunch (juice, cereals, milk, 2 kinds of bread, eggs, cheese, ham, salami, jam, honey, coffee and tea).

- The room we stayed in had bedbugs or similar and my partner suffered from severe bites. Although the hotel moved us to another room in the end, they were not at all concerned about the issue and did not seem to do anything to fix that room for the next guest.
