Das kleine Hotel wird von einer Familie geleitet. Das mehrsprachige Personal wird alles dafür tun, dass Ihr Aufenthalt eine fantastische Erfahrung wird, an die Sie noch lange denken werden. Man hilft Ihnen gerne bei der Buchung eines Ausflugs oder beim Mieten eines Fahrrads. Das Badezimmer liegt auf dem Flur und wird von mehreren Zimmern geteilt. Alle Zimmer außer denen im Anbau verfügen über einen Fernseher. Auf Anfrage sind ein Radiowecker und ein Koffergestell verfügbar. In der geselligen, mit Schnitzereien verzierten Bar sind Reste des Schiffes, mit dem der Seefahrer Michiel de Ruyter im 17. Jahrhundert die Weltmeere bereiste. Auf der Bierkarte stehen mehr als 70 verschiedene Biersorten.

Zusammen mit seinem Schwesterhotel Old Quarters liegt dieses Hotel dort, wo einst die ersten Amsterdammer Häuser gebaut wurden. Um die Häuser gegen das Wasser der Amstel zu schützen, wurde im Fluss ein Damm gebaut, und so kam die Stadt zu ihrem Namen. Heute ist der Dam eine wichtige Attraktion in Amsterdam. Der Königspalast, die Nieuwe Kerk, das Kaufhaus de Bijenkorf und Madam Tussauds liegen rund um den Platz, auf dem oft Straßenkünstler auftreten. Auf diesem Platz steht auch das Nationaldenkmal zum Gedenken an die Kriegsopfer.

Das Frühstück wird zwischen 07:30 und 10:00 Uhr serviert und besteht aus Eiern mit Speck, Kaffee oder Tee, Brot und Konfitüre.

Hotel Old Nickel Amsterdam liegt zentral im bekannten Rotlichtviertel Amsterdams. Viele Touristenattraktionen sind zu Fuß vom Hotel aus erreichbar, z. B. die Rundfahrtboote am Damrak, die Kalverstraat und das luxuriöse Einkaufszentrum Magna Plaza, der Markt auf dem Waterloopplein und das interessante Museum Nemo. Das Gebäude, in dem dieses Museum für Wissenschaft und Technologie untergebracht ist, ist ein wahrer Blickfang an der IJ. Das Anne Frank-Haus, das Van Gogh-Museum, das Reichsmuseum und die Hermitage sind ebenfalls schöne Museen, die einen Besuch lohnen. In der Nieuwe Kerk finden häufig Ausstellungen statt. Die Oude Kerk und der Montelbaanstoren sind sehenswerte Gebäude, die sich in der Nähe des Hotels befinden. Amsterdam kann man bei schönen Spaziergängen entlang den Grachten entdecken, das Zentrum ist sehr kompakt.

Für den Preis gutes Frühstück (Rührei mit Schinken), habe mich wohlgefühlt; - etwas laut (es spielte unten eine Band, was unten auch ziemlich geil war, oben hats mich auch nicht wirklich gestört), Wasser aus der Dusche lief nur langsam ab, ansonsten Klasse

Very friendly and relaxed bar staff, curfew of 4am but then the bar stays open and you can get to know the locals! Live music was excellent. Breakfast included. Rooms clean and the location was perfect - 5 mins from central station, 5 mins to RLD, 5 mins to lots of cafes.; - A bit pricey, but actually still one of the cheapest we managed to find in Amsterdam. Maybe not for families, but brilliant for a group of friends.

Gezellige en goed voorziene bar in huis (type pub/bruin cafe).; - Geen toilet en douche op de kamer, maar dat wist ik tevoren. Maar voor 1 of 2 nachten bij bezoek van festival, concert en stad een prima optie.

We paid all on the 1st day but one friend of mine checked in 1day later after the three of us (room for 4) and the man asked for the money and insisted with me that we hadnÂ´t paid. After we show the receipt he made fun of me for complaining. Next day morning, a woman came and again shouted with us saying that my friend didnÂ´t checked in. Besides that, they control you and ask if some of you go out and the others stay at the room. The bedding was burnned from ashes and not so clean.

A Locatie maar 2 minuten van CS: 28 Februar 2011; 7.4; + Locatie. Warm water. van niemand last in zusterhostel Old Quarter. 24 uur toegang. Koffers kunnen worden gestald in Old Nickel na uitchecken gratis.; - We zaten op de 5e verdieping van de Old Quarter...er is geen lift, maar dit is ook geen uitzondering voor de budget hotels in amsterdam. Prijzig voor type kamer/hotel.

I really enjoyed my stay there, the woman Ellen that greeted us at the front desk was very friendly and funny. Its perfectly central and everything you need is walking distance, you only have to turn a corner. It is the perfect place to stay for a budget holiday whether your with friends or a partner. You can smoke in your rooms which is a plus and there is no curfew. I found this place perfect for our trip. I would defo recommend this!; - Not much view from our window, but thats all!!!!

Jakub Pure cosiness: 17 Oktober 2010; 9.6; + I stayed 2 nights in Old NIckel Hotel and was more than satisfiied. The location could hardly be better. The house with a bar in which the hotel is placed is very very cosy. Both room and bathroom clean, staff very friendly, the breakfast simple but good. They have a very cute ginger cat in the bar :) I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it to my friends.; - Slapping of the other rooms' doors was quite disturbing in the evening. The place is relatively noisy, which is the price for the very lively neighbourhood.
