Hotel Old Nickel Amsterdam

Amazing Place!!!!

• + This is my second time in this hotel and i love it very much very worm hotel and nice ans smile faces of the crew 1 minute from all the attraction in the center of all things including centraal station
• – I didnt noticed any
• * my tip Very nice pub in the lobby, Dont forget to ask about Irish cider very very nice !!!!

amsterdam is about outside the hotel room not inside.

• – not much bad, you get what you pay for, cheap price = basic hotel, shared bathrooms but clean.

• + Loved the staff and the hotel location.
• – The room smelled awfully and was not well cleaned.

You have to go to Asia to find worse dumps than this....

• – Stayed in the Schagen building, not main hotel as apparently Old Nickel has only 2 2-person rooms. No notice given of this change. Schagen is a dump. Room felt like a cell. Was obviously a corridor in the past. Paint grim. Bathroom dirty/smelly and shower flooded. Incredibly noisy both outside and inside. Will not be returning

Ok for a short stay, but there's better options

• + Location, some of the staff were nice.
• – Some really small rooms resembling jail, shower was poor, not all stall were polite. Not really worth the price.

• – very very small and very very smoked room. i could hardly sleep of this smell even 1 night! dirty.

• + the persons behind the bar were very friendly :) location is awesome in the centre. altough the rooms have a shared bathroom, these were always clean.
• – the stairs are a bit tight/no lift. these can be tricky after a long night in a coffeeshop or while transporting luggages in and out. Will definately visit again.

Perfect location for having too much fun in Amsterdam

• + Brilliant hotel - was about as cheap as a hostel. Very friendly and relaxed bar staff, curfew of 4am but then the bar stays open and you can get to know the locals! Live music was excellent. Breakfast included. Rooms clean and the location was perfect - 5 mins from central station, 5 mins to RLD, 5 mins to lots of cafes.
• – A bit pricey, but actually still one of the cheapest we managed to find in Amsterdam. Maybe not for families, but brilliant for a group of friends.

Good atmosphere in a great location

Very clean, ideally located friendly hotel!

• + very clean with friendly staff , very central and near the central station, breakfast was fine, would definitely stay again!
• – bit noisy as its a bar till 4am with loud music but its understandable as its such a central location

Perfect for short stay

• + Really close to the train station (and right next to the red light district), the place was quiet and clean.
• – Our room was on the top floor; carrying heavy suitcases up four steep and narrow staircases was not funny. Having said that, we visited a friend at his hostel where the stairs were worse.

Good localization but really rude staff

• + Breakfast and localization. Nice bar at the reception.
• – The staff is rude. We paid all on the 1st day but one friend of mine checked in 1day later after the three of us (room for 4) and the man asked for the money and insisted with me that we hadn't paid. After we show the receipt he made fun of me for complaining. Next day morning, a woman came and again shouted with us saying that my friend didn't checked in. Besides that, they control you and ask if some of you go out and the others stay at the room. The bedding was burnned from ashes and not so clean.

Good location, nice bar but prepare for a very rude receptionist

• + Hotel location is very good and the bar was great with good service and live music in the evening.
• – The girl in the reception was really rude and offensive. Without doubt the worst velcome I have ever experiensed.

• + 4am curfue, friendly staff, nice size room, clean shared bathroom&shower, fresh towels, location, price.
• – cat in the bar..very annoying for people with allergies (myself), room a bit stuffy, very steep stairs not appropriate for elderly or children.

Poor price / quality ratio.

Perfect hotel for people on a budget

• + We were able to smoke in the rooms and the staff were very polite and spoke near perfect english and everything thing is a 5min walk.

• – Thin walls, dusty smell, but it didn't bother too much. i'd recommend it to young budget travellers, who come to check out amsterdam for a few days.
