Hotel
Hotel Ajax is located in the centre of Amsterdam close to the Spui. While checking in at reception, you can enjoy a splendid view out towards the Amstel river and the Allard Pierson Museum. The location is also perfect for a day of shopping: indoor shopping centre Magna Plaza is within walking distance, as well as the Waterlooplein flea market and the attractive boutiques of the 9 straatjes ('9 little streets'). To round your day off, there are plenty of restaurants and bars concentrated around the Rembrandtplein.
Amsterdam Central Station can be reached on foot in approximately 10 minutes, and several trams stop in front of the hotel. By tram and metro (from the Waterlooplein) you have a good connection to the RAI exhibition centre and Zuid WTC station. In your hotel room you have an en suite shower and toilet. The reception is open day and night, so guests can get to their room at any time.
Please note that there are renovations works going on on the outside of the accommodation. These are being done during the period of 8 June 2017 until 30 September 2017. During construction scaffolding will cover the front of the hotel. Rooms may experience some disturbances.
Surroundings
Hotel Ajax is very centrally located, near to many popular attractions, shops, coffeeshops and enjoyable cafés. Go for a walk along the canals and past beautiful historic buildings. From the hotel, you can also easily reach the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum, as well as Artis zoo and the Red Light District.

Breakfast is served every morning from 08:00 until 10:00.You will find many places to have lunch or dinner in the hotel's direct vicinity, especially in the 9 straatjes area, around the Rembrandtplein and along the Spuistraat.

Some of the staff were very nice and accommodating
Incredibly expensive for the state of many things including the room in general, no air con, horrific smell coming from the bathroom 24 hours a day, beds weren't very comfortable and some of the staff were very rude

Location is best and price is ok. Staff was friendly and nice. Breakfast including to the price.

The rooms are too small and have no phones and the TV in the room barely worked. not even the frige. Rooms are poorly ventilated. The environment is very noisy (streetcars and stret noises) and sleeping is impossible without earplugs. bad bed...bad room...tiny bathroom. Smells strongly of cigarette.
steep staircase,very,difficult for large suitcases. Have been changing room tree times. Poor breakfast. The room not worth more than 30 to 45 € per night. The hotel does not deserve any star.

the position of the hotel is ideal, right in the center , in easy reach for all the interesting touristic points.
It's an old building therefore the rooms are cramped and bathroom very small and narrow. no elevator, steep stairs.

BREAKFAST SERVICE IS SPARTAN AND NOT APPETISING.
SOFT ROLLS OF SEVERAL DAYS OLD. ALSO THE BOILED EGGS ARE FROM DAYS BEFORE. FRUIT JUICE IS NOT JUICE BUT LEMONADE . TABLES ARE NOT CLEANED BETWEEN GUESTS.

A brilliant location, friendly staff - a good budget hotel (this hotel is definitely not as bad as some of the reviews would have you believe - my wife and I really enjoyed it)

Receptionist was very nice. Useless, but nice.
This hotel was overpriced and extremely crappy. The beds were crap, the bathroom was tiny, and I honestly thought I was going to get mugged in my own room. It was fine if you were paying 50 euro a night for it, but anything more and it's a rip off.

Very friendly people at the reception desk.
Nowhere is it said that there is no elevator and that the staircases are so steep. Not every customer can climb such stairs and on top of that also carry their suitcases. That was very bad.

i was scared to take a shower, the pipes smell, the towels aren't clean. it is disgusting.
