Hotel
The Oranje Hotel Leeuwarden is the perfect accommodation to have a good time, do business and experience Leeuwarden. The hotel has been a welcoming eye-catcher for travellers arriving by train since 1879. Once inside you will experience a friendly reception that is so typical of this hotel. In the spacious lounge and the sophisticated conservatory guests can take a moment to relax with a drink after their trip. For a pleasant lunch or dinner you can visit Brasserie Oranje. All rooms come with comfortable beds, a bathroom with a bath and/or shower and a toilet, air conditioning, a minibar, a safe, free internet and a flatscreen television.
Because of its central location near the train station, its accessibility by train or car and its excellent conference rooms, this international hotel is also perfect for business and celebratory meetings. The hotel staff will do their utmost to make any guests' stay as pleasant as possible. Another great asset of the hotel is its location near the wonderful historic inner city of Leeuwarden. The hotel has a private parking garage with a limited number of parking spaces and there is a public parking garage within a 5-minute walk.
Surroundings
The historic city centre of Leeuwarden is within walking distance of the Oranje Hotel Leeuwarden. For a nice view of the city you can climb the 40 metres high 'Oldehove' tower in summer. Because of the soft soil this tower is slightly slanted and is called the Frisian 'Tower of Pisa'. Parts of the old city walls and moats are monumental, as are various residences, churches and even parks. In the centre of Leeuwarden there are many cafés and other venues for a night on the town. A fun way of exploring the surroundings is by taking a boat tour: there are many places where you can rent a boat.
Food and Drink
An extensive breakfast buffet is available daily in the atmospheric Brasserie Oranje. Breakfast is available on Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 10:00, and on Saturday and Sunday until 11:00. Brasserie Oranje in the hotel is also the perfect spot for lunch or dinner, or a delicious coffee or glass of wine. The menu features tasty dishes stemming from French and Dutch cuisine, with a Frisian tint. The menu changes regularly. Brasserie Oranje is also an excellent choice for drinks on a Friday afternoon, serving good wines and tasty snacks that will hit the spot after a busy working week. You can also enjoy a High Tea in the afternoon (upon reservation).

It was a lovely, cool, quiet room. The beds were really comfortable and we really appreciated the kettle in the room for a midnight cup of tea The staff at the desk was super helpful. We loved the location, easy to get to from the train and walking distance to the center of town. It was a great get away and we were sorry to have to go.
The only negative was that the carpet along the baseboards hadn t been thoroughly vacuumed.
“My tip: The restaurant with the hotel did not have a menu that appealed to us but the one right around the corner was outstanding, great food and service. Grand Cafe Wouters ”

Great bathrooms! Great helpful desk staff --- very good service! Great location too.
Rather dark interior. Would have liked the option of a sheet as the night was hot and the cover/quilt was too hot. Very nice place though.
“My tip: Spend some time in leeuwarden. It's a city of very liveable scale and you can chill here!!”

Had 2 rooms here about 18 months ago and thought it was terrific value. Came back for two nights this time and thought it was good but the room was quite basic. Restaurant and reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Location opposite the station is fabulous.
The toilettries were really on the 'stingy' side. It was also frustrating not to have Wi-if connection in my room necessitating visits to the restaurant or to the Internet section that seemed to attract local student users. Just a note too- the lighting in the Internet area is so dim I couldn't see. Food was very good but as a traveller I would've liked an option to have a one plate standard dinner choice as well as the small tapas selection.

Room extremely tidy and comfortable. The location of the hotel is very well placed.
Initially phoned hotel for an enquiry, was placed on hold for 6 minutes so I hung up and called again. Breakfast seems to be a little expensive at 15 euros.

Very comfortable hotel with excellent service and friendly staff who couldn't do enough to help and speak very good english. Great location near to train station and easy walk into historic centre of Leeuwarden. Pleasant lounge facilities used for a drink with friends. We didn't bring our child this time, but we were pleased to see toys for children prominently in the lounge which gives a good sign of welcome. We had a nice stay, and we'd use them again.

Excellent food, very nice rooms, quick service, pretty, very well situated
The price is higher than the Hotels.nl said on the internet. Absolute minus. And the breakfast is emensly expensive. Also they are not used to children, and have very little flexibility when it comes to that.

Staff\'s natural willingness to help customers with smile. Attention to details in place making customers feel welcomed. Breakfast was a treat which my wife & I fully enjoyed. Felt guilty that the room rate was cheap! Many thanks for everything and we will certainly return.

Seen most hotels in Lw but this is still #1. Modern, clean rooms. Not too noisy. Good airco. Excellent restaurant & breakfast. Only real alternatives are van der Valk and de Klinze. Those are a 15minutes drive outside of Lw.
Often fully booked. Small (paid) parking lot, and (more expensive) paid parking all over Lw. Like Amsterdam, Lw\'s car park policy sucks.

I always enjoy my stay at the Orange and so am always happy to stay there.
The only downside items are.. 1) because I am self employed the rates are often beyond my budget and so I have to stay elsewhere. 2) I am English and enjoy a cup of tea but there is no milk or creamer provided and the tiny coffee cups are just not adequate for tea. The avarage English tourist would prefer something the size of a bucket. A large mug just might do.

Recently (2007) renovated, clean comfortable rooms. Excellent location near the innercity of Leeuwarden and across the central train station. Also has various nice places to eat & drink in the surroundings. Decent personel. Great restaurant.
Renovation wasnt fully finished yet, however they had moved the restaurant to the back of the hotel for the customers convenience. Breakfast is very expensive for what you get (15 euro p/p). To eat in the surroundings of the hotel is 60% cheaper. The outside of the hotel looks old & dirty. Room service after 11pm is very limited to a few dishes and a few drinks. Had some problems in the (brand new) bathroom; after showering it was flooded. Staff never asked if we enjoyed our stay when we checked out.
