Food & Drink

Restaurant La Rive is an experience in itself. The French-Mediterranean kitchen, crowned with a Michelin star offers refined international dishes. La Rive offers you a beautiful view of the River Amstel. The restaurant is open daily for dinner and seats 40 guests. The Amstel Bar and Brasserie is an informal restaurant / brasserie, open daily from 12:00 until 23:00. In the Amstel lounge or on the terrace, you can enjoy light meals with stunning views of the city's canals. Dinner can be enjoyed during a canal cruise on one of the antique, classic saloon boats. Breakfast can be enjoyed in several settings: in La Rive restaurant, the Amstel Lounge, by the swimming pool in the Health Club, or in your room. The Amstel Hotel also offers the option of 'petit déjeuner à la carte' which includes specialities from all over the world. While the English celebrate tea as their national beverage, the tea drinker may be reminded that these dried leaves first arrived in Amsterdam in 1610. They were presented to the House of Orange, the Dutch Royal family. And at the Amstel Intercontinental Hotel, you too can enjoy a Royal Amstel Afternoon Tea with exclusive treats created by the chef. Very elegant and comfortable hotel with excellent staff
  • + Excellent hotel, decor and staff
  • I have problem with billing. It seems that my daughter and I have both paid the hotel separately for one room for one night. We are trying to sort it out with the hotel
  • * my tip Excellent hotel
  • (Older couples)
Would stay there again, as felt a respected client.
  • + Great Hotel --- and efficient --- staff very helpful especially the conciege.
  • Service at Breakfast not good. like all bad waiters/ waitresses, they never look in your direction when you need them....
  • (Young couples)
excellent! it worth a stay. I would say "exclusive"
  • (Travelling alone)
One of the two best hotels I call it a home away from home
  • + Warm receptions from everybody starting from your doorman to reception always make me feel I am coming home. I have stayed in many hotels around the world in my life including other Inter-Continental group hotels but I only have two hotels which I like the most and always feel at home there. The other is the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong.

  • + Very clean, great bathroom and comfortable bed.
  • We kept being disturbed when in our bedroom and for the price the standard needed to be a bit higher.
  • (Young couples)
  • + A most welcoming hotel with the most pleasant staff.
  • A little too far from centre however possible advantage is that it was pleasantly quite at night.
  • (Other)
  • + service,200%
  • more chairs needed in the hotel room ,for two quests we had one desk chair ,one lounge chair
  • (Older couples)
  • + The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great, we had a lovely room overlooking the canal, a lovely stay. The leisure facilites are very luxurious too.
  • The only minus point is that it is very expensive, would love to know if you do any weeekend packages or 'deals'.
  • (Older couples)
  • Valet service was very good but too expensive fopr a parking place outside , just in front of the entrance
  • (Older couples)
  • + the concierge service is outstanding as is the reception personnel.
  • we almost found none except that the gym, while well equipped, is a little small.
  • (Families with young children)
  • A disastrous experience in the Brasserie ruined an otherwise very good experience. My wife and I had to wait 65 minutes for our main course,we had however left before that and reception called our room to ask if we wanted to go back downstairs to finish our meal.Utterly ridiculous!.All of this was reported to the duty manager at the time
  • (Older couples)
  • (Friends)
  • + A lovely location, and a bonus was the use of the hotel's boat for an interesting trip on the river. The hotel is a perfect size, not too big and impersonal, but excellent service.
  • (Other)
  • + We have nothing else then praise for this hotel. Service is terrific, room was clean, food was good.I recommend this hotel 100%.
