- price/quality excellent in this hotel
- Price/quality is excellent, particularly taking into account that the hotel is located in the centre of Amsterdam.
- A bit of noise in the morning, coming from the corridor.

- Cheap, basic, but a handy base.
- Great value. Nice view of the Rijksmuseum from the deluxe room, which was pretty spacious, and nice and warm. Breakfast was simple but a pleasant bonus given the price. They were happy to hold luggage before and after check in/out times, although this was just left in the (mostly attended) reception area.
- In desperate need of a lick of paint or renovation. Kettle in the room but no cups or drinks. When we asked for cups were told there were no cups for the rooms, only at breakfast!
Returned in the afternoon and had to wait 15 minutes in the cold for someone to let us in or answer the phone!
Double bed was 2 single mattresses pushed together, which had seen better days.

- Clean, Simple, and Good.
- The hotel was very clean, simple, quiet, and nice. The view from the room was spectacular!
- The staircase was horrible and almost vertical. it would not be accessible at all for someone who is handicapped.

- low budget ok - but trash?
- the location.
- the staff was absolutely without any plan, what they are supposed to be doing in a hotel; we lived in a little narrow hole in the cellar with paper walls and heard any other guest visiting the toilet at all time, the guy who started preparing the (poor) breakfast at about 7 in the morning and so on...it was really really awful and only our humour and a - despite of the hotel and the parking prices (sic!) - good time we've had in A'dam kept us in this...kind of a hotel....
- the girl asking for breakfast too late and loosing towels - 2009-11-20

- A hotel for the young?
- Very good location, the museums, Leidseplein etc are nearby. Friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Nice view from the rooms in the front.
- The hotel is quite shabby. There was a not so fresh smell in the rooms. Also the walls are thin, so eg TV could be heard from the neighbouring room.

- Ok but could be much better.
- Close to restaurants / shops / trams.
Helpful staff.
- 53 very steep stairs to reach our room!
Expensive for what it was.
Room smelled of smoke from people smoking outside.
2 single beds pushed together instead of a double.

- One of the Great hotels of Amsterdam.
- We stayed in a budget-hotel "The Art Gallery" on Weteringschans opposite the Rijksmuseum. Very good value at €75,- for a decent room en-suite with breakfast. (There were cheaper rooms). The receptionist Mohammed was the sort of person EVERY accommodation should have. Truly an excellent ambassador for any establishment. He was the very personae of help, charm, attentive to detail that makes staying there a feeling of security and well-being. The hotel is a very typical Amsterdam building one like many I've painted during my 12yrs running a repair and decorating company in Amsterdam. It has small steep narrow staircases and many Europeans to say nothing of N. Americans would baulk at the stairs, however for those on a budget and for younger travellers I can't recommend the Art Gallery highly enough. 100 meters from Rijksmuseum with the van Gogh and the Stadelijk behind that - also the Concertgebouw Concert Hall. Right behind the hotel is old Amsterdam with all one would ever want from it. To the right (East) is Liedseplein and to the left and south in the biggest street market in Europe - Albert Cuype. What more can one want from one location.
As an accommodation provider myself I consider it great value, great location and Mohammed a most genial host.
- Steep narrow (typically Amsterdam stairs).
Breakfast in basement meant a cert. in mountaineering would be of value. No fault of hotel however that's how these houses were built.
Definitely not for older persons (I'm 53) unless they're very agile.

- Great, friendly, clean hotel in quite yet central location
- Really friendly reception. Had only booked 1 night but actually needed 2 and there was no availability at this hotel but the gentleman at reception helped us find another room at another hotel close by. He suggested the Art Hotel's sister hotel but we chose against it to save a few euros - bad choice. Other place was a real dive compared to the Art Hotel. Would definately stay again.
The breakfast was awesome too - omlette's, cheese, cold meats, boiled eggs plus the basics that normally come with a free breakfast.
Lastly the receptionists dog was in the reception area a lot of the time. A beautiful, well tempted and really friendly chocolate lab names Bear who definately added to our stay.

Many thanks to all but especially to the blonde young guy who works in the reception..i m sure that without you we ll be facing lots of difficulties...thanks :) ( the greek young couple who came late.)
the location ! really close to the centre walking distance
- the comfort + price...small rooms that remind me youth hostels...i cant understand why the cost is so high esp. when the rooms look like this. You ve got to do something so to make them look better.
the stairs..for god shake add a lift..it was really hard carring my suitcase and going up six floors.

- OK hotel with a good staff.
- Hotels staff is excellent; friendly and helpful. Excellent location.
- Our room was not quite as good as the pictures and other info in the web promised. The biggest problem was the lack of air; room was hot and damp. Also noise from other rooms came through the thin walls. Our room was below the ground floor. I understood that the rooms on higher levels were in better shape.

- Comfortable, clean, friendly, central & affordable hotel in Amsterdam
- Friendly and helpful staff. Located centrally and in a really beautiful part of Amsterdam (my room on the 2nd floor was overlooking the Rijksmuseum).
- As with all canal houses, the steep stairs would make it unsuitable for the elderly or infirm.

- The persons at the frontdesk are kind. The location of the hotel is excellent. Whe had a nice big shower.
- The hotel is very old, we had a nice room on the 4th floor, but there where to many stairs to go. Every time we had to go to our room there where 68 steps to do; simply to much.

- indoor air expert
- We had 4th floor room (for 3 pers),road traffic noise was lower than expected,ok. Views excellent, open. Indoor air fresh, no wall-to-wall carpets, so no big static electricity, microdusts or fibres,i.e. not a stuffy feeling! Bed linen good quality cotton(not polyester like IKEAs inexpensive),so stat.electricity low, no stuffy noses. This is ok for sensitive or allergic persons.
- Stairs up narrow, high, not for locomotor troubled.

- nice hotel. very good location.
- The location was excelent, it is in front of the Rijkmuseum, two hundred meters away from de Vangoth Museum, and 5 minutes from the center of the town. The hotel is in a tipical building, and is very nice. We liked the breackfast very much. The personal is very nice, and they keep your luggage after your cheek out.You can drink hot cofee, or chocolate all day for free.
- Becouse of the building, some rooms and the stairs are quite small. The bed was two single united. Sometimes, theres is bad smell, at least in room 1.

- Very nice visit
- The room was lovely and the location fantastic! I would easily stay there again. And all for a reasonable price. I think we lucked out with the balcony room on the front of the hotel. It was spacious and had big beautiful windows.
- Overall, I was very happy. My only suggestion would be the room in general could be a little revamped, but that said it was quite nice.

- Great location, mediocre accommodations
- The hotel is in a great location, near to an incredible number of diverse types of restaurants, the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, and is easy walking distance to almost every attraction in the city.
- The hotel is dingy, and service is mediocre at best. The door to our room was left ajar after housekeeping made it up (and failed to leave enough new towels and barely made the bed). Breakfast was sufficient, but nothing special. I also had to pay a surcharge for paying for my room with a credit card instead of cash.

- The breakfast offered for that price was excellent. It gives travellers extra incentive to visit the hotel again (i would use it again). Rooom was comfortable, just perfect for the travelleres to stay.

- Wi-Fi internet everywhere.
Good breakfast
Accessibility to free hot coffee and tea and kitchen all day long
Fresh shower every day
Supporting staff.
- 1. Breakfast until the 10-00 is the problem because in Amsterdam almost impossible to sleep earlier then 2 a.m. and it is almost impossible to stand up until 10-00. I think, it could be better to shift it at least for one our later.
2. Kitchen working only till 21-00, may if it works till 22-00 it could be better.
3. The inhabitance are quite in hotel but the acoustic is very transparent. There is almost no difference between the sound made in corridor and in the room, but because you not spent much time in a room in Amsterdam it not becomes a big problem
