Music and theatre are key features in BackStage Hotel Amsterdam. This contemporary design concept has an ideal central location in Amsterdam. The iPod docking station and the drum kit seat in the hotel rooms and music posters of celebrities on the walls, are just some of the elements that will make you feel like a pop star during your stay. In the hotel bar guests can have a drink and play a game of pool billiards. This area also has a free Internet terminal.
The stages 'Melkweg' and 'Paradiso' and the 'Leidseplein' square are practically around the corner. In the vicinity there is a wide array of restaurants and cosy bars and from the hotel you can easily reach the 'Museumplein' on foot. This square is surrounded by the 'Rijksmuseum', the 'Van Gogh Museum' and the 'Stedelijk Museum'.

A well-located freindly hotel with real Amsterdam character
+
Excellent location; Friendly helpful staff. Great breakfast and clean new ensuite bathrooms.
–
A challenging staircase but once the luggage is up it is part of the real Amsterdam experience.
*my tipTravel light because of the staircase; Easy access by tram - Trams 1,2 & 5 from the Central Station & get off at Leidseplein; Tram 7 & 10 stop almost in front at Raamplein. Great value breakfast!

Loved this hotel!
+
In such a great location for bars and restaurants. Only 15 mins walk (and a really pretty walk) to the Red Light District. Had the comfiest bed I have ever slept in and our room was cleaned daily. Friendly staff and a great little bar. Cool decor in rooms.
–
Nothing at all - I loved it!
*my tipWalk around the area rather than catching the tram - its beautiful. Nearby bar called Lux is really good and open till about 4am.

Fun budget, boutique hotel. Nice staff but loud street noise!
+
Great location! Fun rock n roll theme. Nice staff...
–
Very loud street noise. People walking home drunk and REALLY loud from bars or wherever all nite long on street out front. No A/C so couldn't shut window to keep out noise.
*my tipBring good ear plugs! Enjoy how close you are to everything!

Could imagine to choose it again in case of another amsterdam trip

Personel is extremely kindly and helpful, atmosphere is very nice, breakfast: price/quality relation is very good
–
low hygiene ranking is because of the bathroom: mould-infested, rinsing reservoir of toilet was leaky, floor of bathroom not cleaned for days; no towels - thought it wasn't incl. due to the low price and didn't ask at the reception; but got some at the last day of stay - should have asked ;-)

The hotel was in the perfect area - close to the centre but not right in the centre. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Everything you need for a getaway to Amsterdam.
–
The room was very small. This is fine for a short stay (4 days or less) but may cause problems for someone with more luggage

The Backstage Hotel - Cool, Relaxing, Cheap and Friendly!! :)
+
Great stay at this Hotel. Very Friendly staff and a good budget price. Very close to a buzzing square with many food, coffeeshops and pubs. Lots of Live music and shows around this area. Short 15/20 minute walk to red light district and central amsterdam, down beautiful alleys and streets and the tram runs from the square if you dont want to walk. I will stay again when i return - plus its cool that everything is made from musical instruments - our light was a drum and our bed made of guitar cases - so cool!! :)
–
The only minus points i can think of are the noise of the hoover at 9.30am every morning waking us up as they hoover and clean the hallway outside and other rooms, and that my shower gel and washing stuff went missing when i left it in the shower, but i guess i should have kept it in my room. Apart from these two very minor gripes it is a lovely, relaxing hotel.

A fun and atmospheric hotel in a good location near some of Amsterdam's live music venues. We had come to Amsterdam for a gig so the "back stage" rock theme added to our experience. Very friendly and helpful staff.
