Anonymous Hotel Backstage is awesome!
9.8
+ Great location,friendly staff,awesome design theme.Highly recommended :)
- It can be a bit noisy in the morning while the staff cleans up but I guess it's like that in every hotel.
Anonymous Fun and inexpensive way to go in Amsterdam!

- Shared bathrooms...which are smelly.
Isabel Teixeira Perfect stay at Amsterdam
9.6
+ Great locations, great staff, totally satisfied.
- Noise
Juliane Unger Could imagine to choose it again in case of another amsterdam trip
8.2
+ Personel is extremely kindly and helpful, atmosphere is very nice, breakfast: price/quality relation is very good
- low hygiene ranking is because of the bathroom: mould-infested, rinsing reservoir of toilet was leaky, floor of bathroom not cleaned for days; no towels - thought it wasn't incl. due to the low price and didn't ask at the reception; but got some at the last day of stay - should have asked ;-)
Debbie mulkerrins Cool!!
8.4
+ Very different but warm an friendly!!!
Tiina Valtonen We will come again :)

+ Near to Leidsplein. Veru nice people work there.
Celeste Merey Weekend experience in the city
9.2
+ The hotel was in the perfect area - close to the centre but not right in the centre. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Everything you need for a getaway to Amsterdam.
- The room was very small. This is fine for a short stay (4 days or less) but may cause problems for someone with more luggage

Lizzy Playford The Backstage Hotel - Cool, Relaxing, Cheap and Friendly!! :)
9.2
+ Great stay at this Hotel. Very Friendly staff and a good budget price. Very close to a buzzing square with many food, coffeeshops and pubs. Lots of Live music and shows around this area. Short 15/20 minute walk to red light district and central amsterdam, down beautiful alleys and streets and the tram runs from the square if you dont want to walk. I will stay again when i return - plus its cool that everything is made from musical instruments - our light was a drum and our bed made of guitar cases - so cool!! :)
- The only minus points i can think of are the noise of the hoover at 9.30am every morning waking us up as they hoover and clean the hallway outside and other rooms, and that my shower gel and washing stuff went missing when i left it in the shower, but i guess i should have kept it in my room. Apart from these two very minor gripes it is a lovely, relaxing hotel.

- Small rooms Shared toilet
Harold Gillung Cozy and affortable

+ The location is great. Five minute walk to train that will take you to the Central Station. A lot of really nice restaurants and bars all within walking distance.
- No toliet or shower in the room but there is a sink. The stairs are almost vertical and no lift.
Cristina Fernández A confortable hotel in a very good location.

+ Staff were great, very welcoming. Room was very clean and cosy. Good location in South Amsterdam right next to a canal. Would recommend anyone to stay there.
- Nothing I can think of!
Susan Great Design
8.2
+ A fun and atmospheric hotel in a good location near some of Amsterdam's live music venues. We had come to Amsterdam for a gig so the "back stage" rock theme added to our experience. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- Very steep stairs!
Graham Payne A quality clean hotel at the price. great staff and ambiance
7.6
+ friendly service and staff. great vibe. reasonably priced.
- a bit further from Dam Square than suggested, but only a 15 minute walk and you can get a tram from nearby
Anonymous Very original and superfriendly place with some limitations
8.2
+ Very friendly and cordial staff, really great. You feel that this hotel was created out of passion and the staff seems passionate about it. Funny location - also for "non-rockers"..
- Well ... empty cans under the bed, a bit of dust, but nothing too bad. And like many places in Amsterdam extremely steep staircases - so if you have a lot of luggage it is an adventure to climb them. (Was glad when I checked out without a broken ankle). The coffee at breakfast was quite bad...
Amanda Cool hotel, with great location and better staff
8.8
+ The staff at the Backstage could not have been nicer or more helpful! They really made our short stay in Amstradam SO much easier. Their decor is original and cool, the breakfast was great, and it is a fairly close to everything you could want to see.
- I can't think of many, we loved it here!
Lorraine Marsh Great location, willdefinately stay again
9.4
+ Very conveniently situated. Staff very friendly. Hotel music theme great. Very nice bar. Breakfast very good. Room and beds very comfortable. Would definately stay again.
- Double rooms not ensuite, but shower and toilets very close to rooms and very private.
Antony Bird Backstage is almost as good as being onstage
9.6
+ Cool Rock and Roll theme
- Breakfast should be included
Catherine Foss Good atmosphere
9.4
+ Very good service and friendly staff.
Dennis Sills Great historic hotel
9.6
+ The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable, which is not always the case in quad rooms in Europe. Even with the steep stairs, I highly recommend this hotel, good location and wonderful historic building.
- They are telling the truth about steep stairs and quad rooms being on higher floors! Killer spiral staircase! I think they should have an option to pay someone to bring your bags to the room if you would like that.....surley they could find a strong kid that could make some money hauling bags! Maybe we should pack lighter!
mark power Come Backstage...
9.2
+ Perfect location, great funky little hotel themed on music, we enjoyed our stay alot and wouldnt hesitate to go back if we come to amsterdam again.
- im now going to have to go out and buy my other half a dressing table mirror like in the room because she thinks its so cool !
andy lloyd Forget it for business
6.6
+ interestingly designed room very clean good tv ipod dock
- just too noisy if you are on business. Walls are paper thin and trams make the whole building rumble which i have never known before and i have stayed all over Amsterdam .
Antti Couple of improvements short of an excellent hotel
8.0
+ Brilliant interior design, clean rooms, comfortable beds. The staff are friendly and effective. Quite simply flawless service.
- A bit noisy rooms, the doors seem a bit thin or poorly soundproofed. Apparently there's only one shared shower for the whole hotel even though there were supposed to be showers in the upper floors as well, at least according to the safety plan. Very, very steep stairs but that's the case in most smaller hotels in Amsterdam.
Andrew Luther Perfect! Great hotel, great location!
9.0
+ This 'end of town' is so much nicer than the red light district the other end - much more chilled-out and relaxing, and away from the stag do's and pissed-up Brits. Get a spot by the river outside the Hard Rock Cafe on a nice sunny day (as I did) and you'll love it!
- It's a bit of a walk from the station (though you could always get a tram), but that's about all.
Steven Jakara Fantastic hotel, would stay again!
9.6
+ Great location, great staff, and perhaps the most comfortable single beds I've ever slept on! Decent priced beer too (for Amsterdam anyway).
- 'Basic' rooms, located on 1st floor and basement, can be very noisy, with trams going past and noise easily heard from the bar.
Anonymous Stay here it's really good!
9.2
+ Everything! We had a double room with a bathroom, it was clean and modern, the beds were really comfy. The staff were friendly and helpful - The location is fantastic for Leidseplein! This will be my first choice next time we come back to Amsterdam - you cannot find anything better for the money!
- None - don't worry about the trams outside, they are not that loud and didn't bother us all!
Jos Paques Good for Backpackers/Music lovers
5.6
+ Proximity to City center, Price.
- Shared toilets/Shower ... Noisy area (tram passing) and bar visitors also use hotel guest comon toilets. Smell of Joints all over.
bowen
8.2
+ friendly staff willing to help
- shower was on 1st floor, having to go down one floor for me.
Anonymous
7.8
+ location, backstage theme
John Howie Back Stage - Wel'll Be Back!
8.4
+ Great for music lovers in terms of decor, memorabilia and just across the road from Melkweg and a 10 minute walk to the great Cafe Alto and Pardiso. Very clean rooms and really friendly and helpful staff.
- Trams outside the window are a bit noisy - but hey it's a city hotel for real music lovers so just turn up the i-pod docking station!
Glenn Oliver Not altogether happy, at all.
4.4
+ none
- Apparently my twin room had been double booked and i was moved to the le Boheme, which was a very low quality room and facilities. I will not be using either again in the future.
Anonymous
7.8
+ great "backstage" style
- bathroom
LJ A must for music lovers!
8.6
+ If you love music, this is the place to stay. Bands from all over the world, and nearby establishments to listen to them. In the heart of Leidsplein square, and close to everything. Easy to get to from the airport or Amsterdam Central. Staff are very friendly, and the decor is geared to music lovers! Drums for light fixtures in the rooms, and saxaphone lights in the lounge!
- Too many small stairs if you are on the second floor.
SOFIA BALLA Nice hotel with some room for improvements
6.2
+ Nice decoration, location
- No elevator, small rooms, more hygiene
Ashley Pringle An excellent hotel
9.0
+ Excellent location, staff couldnt have been more helpful, the whole experience was super! Very handy having the free internet downstairs.
- Steep stairs but that is just what to expect in Amsterdam!!!
Yetunde Imam-Lawal My new favourite hotel! 3 star quality for 2 star price.
9.8
+ Awesome Stage-theme throughout the hotel, modern rooms equiped with radioalarm, flat screen TV with cable, comfy clean beds
Neil Major Absolutely fantastic hotel!!
10
+ Well having recently spent 4 days in Amsterdam I can not recommend Backstage enough, what a fantastic hotel in a perfect location! The staff was second to none, with the emphasis on Gijs who entertained/serviced us to a very high standard! That accompanied with the plush, modern environment set by Backstage has made for a very enjoyable stay! Backstage would be my first choice everytime!!
Anonymous Good location
7.8
+ deadly location, cool rooms small bit it did the job..good price to
- only minus point was that the shower/toilet are not in the room and are shared in the hall way
Mr William Treadwell Good location for better than average hotel
6.8
+ Good Location, helpful staff
- Breakfast selection was poor
CHEN YIN JUNG The worthy stay in Amsterdan!!
10
+ super!! very nice staff!! perfect location, clean and comfort!! we'll be back!!
Joan Ramon Blasco
6.8
+ good localition and personal.
- high stairs
Paula Daunt Very comfortable and stylish - Shame it's a bit noisy
8.8
+ The room looks really nice, you'll have a drum as a lampshade, a mirror with lamps bulbs around it like a super star, relatively comfortable beds and friendly service. Very stylish.
- You can hear people's steps above your head. I sleep quite deeply but got woken up by the noise from upstairs anyway. Didn't get much sleep. Shame cos the hotel is absulutely fab apart from the noise issue. Maybe they could do a refurbishment and make the floor a bit thicker.
Anonymous Good stay.
9.6
+ The staff were really friendly and willing to help out anytime day or night, even when we got back from a club at 5am! Room was nice and clean with a very comfortable bed! Shower was good, warm and powerful.
- None. Had an excellent stay, would definitely go back.

+ I think that this was an awesome place to stay in Amsterdam. The location was only out done by the exceptional service and help we got from the front desk. With the help from them we were able to have an awesome time and see more than we could have ever expected. Thanks will recommend your fine hotel to anyone who asks. Thanks..
JL I would be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone
10
+ the genuinely helpful and friendly staff set this hotel apart. clean and well kept rooms plus superb facilities too. I can't think of a single problem or disappointment during my stay.
- taxi drivers don't seem to know where the hotel is and the exchange rate makes them quite pricey. if you get a taxi, ask for leidseplein and make the 2 minute walk. you can get about 5 days of tram travel for the price of one taxi fare though, so just get the number 2 tram to leidseplein. it's about 10 minutes on the tram to/from the centraal station
