Great hotel, nice room, helpful staff, good food

in the middle of an industrial park, nowhere to eat lunch as restaurant is not open during the day and there is not much in the surrounding area. This would be most suitable for people with a car.

A nice place to stay.

Check in staff on the day of arrival and Departure were very efficient and friendly. This was our 4th year stay at this hotel and the quality is always to the same standard of excellence. (Thanks see you next year).

The hotel was clean

On check out they tried to charge me an extra 30 Euros a night for accommodation. Manager banged on the door and abused me for not checking out. When i explained i had booked an extra night and confirmed with staff the day B4 no apology from her she just walked away. Will never stay at a Bastion Hotel again...

The Receptionist was very helpful and booked us taxis for returning to the airport. She was also excellent at dealing with a French woman who kept trying to jump the queue when we were checking out.

Although we had a no smoking room, there was still a faint smell of stale cigarette smoke - even on the sheets. The room was also hot - no air conditioning. We had the window open - which was then noisy. We did not like the cigarette smoke in the other public areas of the hotel. Pedestrian access into the hotel from the metro was quite dangerous.

The staff we dealt with were very helpful and their English was excellent. The hotel was also clean and tidy with good facilities.

Ideally the hotel could have done with being a bit closer to the nearest metro station although this wasn't a major problem. Also in most hotels I have stopped in a twin bedded room has been equipped with two double beds, the beds in the Bastion were too small. Finally there were some cigarettes stolen from my case which was also a bit upsetting.

No conditioner was supplied with the soap and shampoo. I know this is standard for the Netherlands and the water there is soft, but it should still be supplied. There are problems with the water pressure with the temperature constantly fluctuating from too cold to too hot. There are no shops anywhere near the Hotel. There is only enough coffee for one cup each, each day and paper cups were supplied instead of proper cups. Plastic cups were supplied instead of glasses, so the Hotel does not rate very highly on the environmentally friendly scale. The security access cards do not allow you to use the lifts after checkout time so you have to walk down eight floors if you sleep in.

Welcoming & friendly staff who spoke excellent English. Breakfast selection was excellent,staff welcoming and very attentive. Adult dinner menu was lovely. Internet access at bar/dining room - the teenagers loved this!

In general family friendliness could be improved: Repeatedly staff found it difficult to find the only highchair in the hotel. What would happen if there was more than one toddler needing to dine? Access to main reception of hotel was difficult due to stairs at entrance(toddler/infant in pushchair/buggy). Ramp access not available as access door locked on every occasion we tried to use it.Similar difficulties would be experienced by disabled persons. A little thought with regard to family experience would make the stay much more pleasant. For example: general room safety, cables, mini-bar door broken & hanging off but never fixed. Staff said they were aware of it, but it was not repaired. This posed an ongoing hazard to our child. a child's menu for example for snacks/dinner. When we asked for extra pillows we were told the hotel had no extra pillows - this is hard to understand in a hotel of this size. Our sleep would have been made much more comfotable with more pillows - a small ask. Dinner menu was very nice but did not change at all each night.

The location is good if you need to go to the Amsterdam Arena, but even that doesn't justifiy the pricing.

The hotel has no aircondition and my stay was during the warm season, resulting in room temperatures of more than 30 degrees. Furthermore the food in the expensive restaurant is awfull and I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat diner there.

Vriendelijk en attent personeel, dichtbij de Rai, heerlijke bedden, schone kamer, koffie/waterkoker; prima gegeten in hun restaurant..uitchecken tot 12:00 uur..aparte lees-rookruimte (waar vind je dat nog?)....komen hier zeker weer!

Het was buiten nogal glad op de parkeerruimte...beetje strooien zou aardig zijn....bij gesloten raam geen last van de treinen gehad...'k kan niet meer "verzinnen".. :)

Vriendelijke manager, de luxe kamer boven verwachting, zeer verzorgde kamer, geen last van geluid van buiten, goede airco. Beveiliging gebouw en openbare ruimtes en kamer optimaal. Gratis parkeren.

Manager mocht van hoofdkantoor geen extra personeel inzetten voor 110 bezette kamers=220 personen, die op tijd naar het concert André Rieu wilden en een menu wilden bestellen. 2 tafelserveerders, 1 kok,chaos, keuken is na uitbreiding met kamers niet vergroot of aangepast, verkeerde bezuiniging en gemiste kans om naast menu's ook extra omzet aan drankjes te scoren. Manager en personeel deden hun uiterste best.Ook bij bestellen van taxi's uiteindelijk 30 min. gewacht. Als men naast de zakelijke bezoeker ook de concertganger als gast wil ontvangen dat logistiek en horecavoorzieningen snel aanpassen.

Kamer was goed en ruim genoeg

Het restaurant is niet berekend op veel gasten, we hoefden niet bespreken maar om 5 uur was er geen plaats, 2 man bediening voor bar en restaurant, zijn weggegaan zonder te eten omdat we naar het concert moesten, dit lijkt echt nergens op, hetzelfde voor het ontbijt de volgende ochtend, ontbijt was goed maar veel te weinig plaats. Heb geen klacht ingediend maar kom hier gewoon nooit meer terug.
