good location but inadequate conditions

• + Excellent location (Rembrandtsplein), very helpful reception people
• – (Apartment review) Steep walk-up without elevator, spartan furniture: the beds had too small a spring box and the mattresses were slumping on the sides making it very uncomfortable to sleep, bathroom stall so small that the toilet lid couldn't stay up because of the water tank and without ventilation, restaurant smells from below wafting up every evening, no wi fi in the apartment only in the hotel reception area

• – Hotel room not available till 5.00pm.Workmen effecting repairs. Rooms away from reception. Noisy environment/Will not recommend this accomodation.

The hotel itself was ok, but the location was great!

Friendly, good budget, in center hotel, was the best choice for us.

• + close to everything; red light district, clubs, coffee shops, canals, museums. Its very friendly, comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, have a cute cat harmless to anyone esp those who are scared of cats it doesnt even come close to you. in the middle of everything you might need in amsterdam. the price is good if your on a tight budget. free internet in the lobby for those who want. cool lobby to hang when ur too tired to move.
• – Not a classy hotel for picky people. has a very steep stairs but so does most of Amsterdam building its something common. a little bit noisy for those who are light sleepers but closing the windows helps. more of a friendly hostel then a hotel which makes it more fun if your traveling with friends.

Cheap but nice accomodation at the perfect location!

• – Mouse in the bedroom.

Not great for a family, better if you don't care about sleeping

• + OK, central location. Good supermarket over the road. Good size rooms.
• – Thumping music all through the night. Smokey sheets had holes/ Rooms not cleaned so well. Not enough crockery/glasses for self-catering. Furniture breaking.

5 day Amsterdam

• + Location Friendly Cheap Comfortable

Pleasantly surprised!

• + The rooms were clean and well decorated. We had fresh towels every day. The staff were friendly and helpful! I had seen some very bad reviews so I was really worried but I was pleased with my choice and I would stay there agaun.
• – We had to pay in cash which I didn't know about prior to arriving so everyone had paid their money into my bank account. You could smoke in the rooms and the lads in the room next to us smoked weed constantly which we could smell from our room. The bunk beds were a bit difficult to get in and out of as the ladder on mine was next to the wall!

Satisfactory

• + Friendly and polite staff who are knowledgeable on the city and attractions.
• – Lots and lots (and lots) of stairs! Not for the feint-hearted. 8 flights of steps till we reached our room! And the Breakfast is overpriced.

nice and central, safe but a bit pricy for our purpose..

• + central, friendly staff, we had a five bed room was fine for the purpose of myself and my friends for late nights.. the staff were also very accommodating in serving very late drinks.. cheers guys!
• – ninety euro each (450) for a five bed bedroom with a bathroom is a bit steep, but everything else was fine..

Quad room

• + Location is almost perfect. Service was really friendly. Breakfast was cheap.
• – Room was really dirty and hygiene-level wasn't that what we expected. Traffic and party noise were also disturbing in the morning and night time. Breakfast included only bread, ham, cheese, egg and coffee.

Ideal location for nightlife and sight-seeing in amsterdam.

• + Very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Organized and no complications when booking / checking out. Perfect Location, in Rembrant plein. Nice with the bell at the front door to enter, safe. Good quality room for price. Right across the street from some of the best nightclubs, pubs and restaurants, making it very accessible and safe for the guests to return home. In addition, there is a tram right outside the hotel to take you to centraal station or anywhere else one would like to go. Also close to a canal cruise boat. A very good location for first-time visitors who want the full amsterdam experience :)
• – Very loud in room at night. Can hear trams.

Just perfect!!! We will come again ;)

• + Beautiful bedrooms, perfect hygiene and very helpful reception.
• – The only minus point was that the hotel didn't have an elevator.

Nice place -- if you're loud, young, and don't have any work to do

• – Wireless internet service, although advertised, does not actually extend into all of the hotel's rooms. Make sure you ask for a room that gets wireless reception if this is important to you. Hotel owner was rude and dishonest when I complained about this. It's a very loud neighborhood: Expect to hear college-age boys screaming all night long about how awesome Amsterdam's coffeeshops and prostitutes are.

Great place to stay in

• + Friendly and professional service. Easy location to find and to get around Amsterdam.
• – Occasional late-night noise from Rembrandtplein. Stairs weren't a problem for us, but they could be for some. Remote for TV did not work.

• + Nice breakfast for a fair price. Room very large. Clean and nice toillet. The view of my apartment (to Rambrantplein).
• – Staircase (66 steps to my apartment): nothing against it, but the staff doesn't help with the bags. Too noisy during the nights, specially on weekends. If you have this as a problem to sleep (I don't), than it's not your hotel.

• – Building work going on across road which meant a geat deal of noise from 7am.

• + The hotel seems to have been recently remodeled. I thought it was really nice. The ensuite bathroom was modern and fabulous. Also, the hotel is conveniently located; it's less than a 30-minute walk to just about everything.
• – Rembrandtplein gets wild at night, so if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Also, if you have trouble climbing stairs, this is probably not the place for you.

• + Friendly staff, excellent location etc. Very recommended.

• – Some inflexible, greedy staff.

• + convenient location, good price. high speed internent access available without cost. very friendly and helpful staff - 24hrs. bags can be kept in hotel after checkout with no additional charge. Very close to trams.
• – many (steep) stairs up to the rooms!! late night wailing outside!! smoking allowed in breakfast area!! but i guess all of that is expected in Amsterdam!
