Surroundings
Hotel Die Port van Cleve is located in the historic and cultural centre of Amsterdam. Dam Square and Central Station are within walking distance and several trams pass by the hotel. In the immediate vicinity you can shop in the Kalverstraat, the shopping mall Magna Plaza and the boutiques in the shopping area De Negen Straatjes (the nine streets). Madame Tussauds, the Anne Frank house and the great neighbourhood De Jordaan are also nearby.

In Brasserie De Poort, the breakfast buffet is served from 06:30 to 10:30 h. Monday through Saturday and on Sunday from 07:30 to 10:30 h.
For a culinary meal you are at the right place in the pleasant brasserie. Besides honest Dutch food, international à la carte dishes are served here. Brasserie de Poort has been a well-known establishment in Amsterdam since 1870. The restaurant has maintained a unique tradition: here you can enjoy one of the worldfamous numbered steaks. Each steak comes with its own unique, numbered certificate. If the number on your certificate is a round hundred, you will receive a bottle of wine on the house.
Bar-Bodega De Blauwe Parade has an authentic atmosphere, which is enhanced by a blue delftware tile-tableau. Here you can order an appetizer or light meal. An original jenever and liqueur tasting is also possible.
With a cup of coffee at Coffee Corner De Hooiberg you can enjoy the lively street view. The opening and closing times of the bar variate. The restaurant is open all day until 22:30 h.

very near the tourist spots and its all walking distance to madame Tussaud wax museum, mall and restaurants.

bar fridge is empty and the rooms are extremely small ( 2.5 meters x 3 meters), we cant hardly walk. good thing we are always outside the hotel.

Stay away from this hotel, it does not deserve its 4 stars.

Dimly lit small rooms with steps between the entrance and the sleeping area, small windows, AC not working, very poor TV reception, small TV, 25% reduction on parking did not work. Would not return, no idea how this place managed to get 4 stars.

Very friendly staff, very clean hotel and rooms keep immaculate. Proximity to all ajor attractions were all within 10-15 mins walk and the hotel was on a tram line directly outside if you did not fancy walking. The mail train station ( that6 brings you direct to airport) was also only 10 mins walk away

We did not have food in hotel as the prices were a bit high. The rooms were far too warm but it was explained int he literature that air conditioning would be installed later in the year. There was windows that could be opened but due to the proximity to the main city which was a good thing) the noise on the streets wuld have kept us awake more than the heat of the room.

You can't count on the confirmed price. They added 65 Euros to the confirmed price when we got to the hotel, but we consisted that we woulden't pay more than the confirmed price. To the confirmed price comes 20% city taxes - these you have to pay. No parking at the hotel - big minus. Breakfast too expencive.

Tram stop immediately outside the hotel, so good for getting to other areas of Amsterdam. 10-15 minutes to main train station, close to Dam square etc.

On check out hotel tried to charge me 585 euros instead of the 322 euros I was quoted on this site, claiming the difference was city tax. It took me 20 minutes of arguing before they reduced the rate, This made me miss my train and I was late for a meeting. Breakfast is expensive. Hotel is in middle of refurbishment which means that you have to pass builders to leave your room in the morning, and you cannot always get to the lifts. One of the lifts is very old and has no door to protect you from the wall/floors as it moves, this is illegal in most European countries. Builders start work at 8am so if you want to have a sleep in forget it. My room was facing the front of the hotel and was noisy most of the night.
