- Fantasic location, nice hotel, rooms are small, but I would go back.
- Fantastic location on a quiet street on a canal, really close to everything. Love that they had complimentary coffee and tea. Comfortable beds.
- The rooms are very some. The first one I went in to I felt claustrophobic right away. They nicely arranged for another room, which was slightly larger. May be worth paying the extra for a larger canal facing room.

- Location is great. Nice service personnel. Very good breakfast, with readyfried eggs!

- No bargain, but beatiful place
- We had a canal view which made up for the small room. Wonderful bed, cozy atmosphere, great shower. The free coffee (sucks!) and hot chocolate (default) plus cookies in the lobby is a nice gesture.
- The room is rather small, as usual in the Netherlands. Breakfast is too expensive at EUR 16 per person, especially considering that the coffee is undrinkable.

- Good location, high quality, some 'common sense' drawbacks.
- Very convenient, easily located city hotel, yet in a quiet location.
- Very few seats in reception/bar area provided problems, particularly as there are no drinks facilities in the rooms, only in the reception area, so the restricted seating area was always very busy. Lack of hot drinks facility in the room proved a greater problem than we could have envisaged. Breakfast provision poor, with no alternative in the breakfast area to the Euro 16 breakfast, which looked 'standard'. Other people too were requesting a continental breakfast, but were being quoted full price. Rooms were high quality but ostentatiously adorned with huge chandelier over bed; uncomfortable adornment from very low ceiling. Heating/ventilation system set in low sited canopy over bedhead with a constant buzz all night. Fridge housed in cupboard next to bed. Separate toilet without wash basin - could hardly move in it and I'm only 5 feet tall. Should have been incorporated into lovely large bathroom, which we thought was a cupboard at first as it had louvre doors. Generally a very high standard but some 'common sense' drawbacks deter from overall comfort. Also people in adjoining room smoked a lot which oozed through adjoining door. Most unpleasant. Somewhat disappointing for the price paid. Our personal point of view is that we are happy to pay four star rates, but wouldn't stay here in future, despite the good location.

- Overall Good Experience
- great location, nicely maintained, tea and coffee bar near the lobby, friendly staff, complementary flip flops in the room, oversized towels.
- For being a 4 star hotel I suppose I was a bit disappointed with the offerings. For instance they only serve breakfast at the hotel, there is room service but it is just food from a restaurant around the corner and it closes at 11pm. The tea and coffee bar was usually out of many of the items. Also, the "smoothie" which is an additional 10 euro is supposed to offer movies to watch - but there is no control over the programming. This was not clear to me when we purchased it. Finally I did not realize how strict they were about no smoking. Not that I am a big smoker by any means but "when in rome"! There is a 150 euro fine if you do so my idea of opening a window was without hope. However, due to the size of the hotel I suppose these things can not be avoided. Overall it was a good experience.

- A little disapointed ( though, not a lot...)
- The staff were pleasant and helpfull, breakfast was excellent, room was comfortable, clean and with a large bathroom. tea and coffee was free( tho' see minus points)
- breakfast was outside the price of the room,so expensive, the " good views of the canal" was spoilt buy the road and parked cars between the hotel and canal and a little out of the centre. tea/coffee facitilies were down in reception,so had to walk down every time

- Perfect Location away from the chaos
- I thought this hotel was a little closer to the center city, but after visiting Amsterdam, we were happy to be off the beaten path. This was a quiet, peaceful street, but still within walking distance of everything we wanted to see.
- We have used plenty of hotel safes that were simple to figure out. We never did get the safe in Esteria to work.

- We like the old style at this hotel,it is very clean and the staff is very polite and service minded. Lokation is just perfeckt, walking distance to most of the city. The atmosphere is good ;-)
- We had a room at 5th floor, very nice and with ac but the bed was too hard for us. Outside there was a sitting area for smokers, that wasnt cleaned very often.

- Friendly quality good value hotel in excellent location.
- We've stayed at the Estherea three times now, it seems to us it keeps getting better. Couldnt really be a better location, service is friendly genuine and excellent. Not cheap but not expensive either, key thing is you get what you pay for.
- Very minor, no restaurant, hardly a big problem in Amsterdam, but sometimes its nice just to relax in your own hotels restaurant, even if its only a small brasserie or whatever.
And this is a very personal issue, I like a kettle in the room so you can make a cup whenever you like, particularly late at night or early morning.

- If you like fancy, well-located hotels, this is the place.
- Great hotel, great location near the center of town overlooking the Singel canal.
- A little pricey for my tastes, but that's because I really have little desire for the nice furniture, helpful doormen, and beautiful paneled wood libraries, so for people who like those things, this would probably be perfect. There was some amount of noise from the canal up until midnight.

- An outstanding hotel and staff! We recommend it highly.
- The Staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided excellent advice and made all reservations for us. Their estimates of walking time allowed us to travel throughout the city by walking. The breakfasts were outstanding and the staff's knowledge of local restaurants was very helpful. Their response to e-mail inquiries before we left the USA was detailed and allowed us to bring only that clothing we would need. We rated them, and the hotel, as outstanding. Our room was delightful and overlooked the Singel.
- None really. The outside lights were a bit of a bother when we left the windows and draperies open at night. However, this was not a significant problem.

- NOT HAPPY AND NOT COMING BACK
- The reception and the surrounding areas were beautiful and intimate. The location is great.
- The room was very unconfortable and small. We had to take out 2 chairs so that our luggage could fit in the room. The bathroom door does not fully close, does not offer privacy and is too close to the bed. The reception staff had too very unfriendly people (a snobbish pakistani? and a dutch person) and two that were nice.

- Hotel was wonderful, staff friendly, the room was spotless. The little extras, such as candy, cookies, coffee, tea and hot chocolate offered round the clock in the lobby were a great added benefit of staying at Hotel Estherea!

- Despite the discounted room fare we had a very comfortable, clean and good size room (217) with a high finish. Ditto for bathroom. Quick, friendly reception. Receptionist remembered my call about early check-in! The hotel has a warm and inviting feel to it. Would visit here again.

- The location is excellent. We were upgraded to a suite (Room 210) at the front of the building which had a great view of the canal etc. Staff were pleasant and very helpful with directions, restraunts and taxis etc.
- Hotel quite noisy, no problem with being at the front of the hotel such as traffic etc., but the walls seemed to be paper thin at times. Hotel is a little overpriced if you don't get an upgrade. All that said, I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

- The Hotel Estherea ended up being a perfect place to stay while in Amsterdam. It is on a relatively quiet street and canal but very convenient (walking distance) to restaurants, the Anne Frank house, the Flower Market, Dam Square, and public transit.
The hotel makes coffee, tea, hot chocolate and pastries available in the lobby which turned out to be a real treat. The hot chocolate is the best I've ever tasted.
The room (#314) was not huge but it was not cramped either. We had twin beds, a sitting area and an entrance hall with a closet and safe. The bathroom was large and clean with double sinks and plenty of hot water. The beds had nice linens and were very comfortable. In fact, since my return, I'm looking for a new mattress from home as I slept better while on vacation than in my own bed!
We didn't have much need for making requests of the staff but, when we did, they were all very helpful and cordial.
I highly recommend Hotel Estherea and will stay there again when I return to Amsterdam.
