Description

Hotel Rho Amsterdam carries a rich history dating back to 1908. The Art-Deco style of the building can still be admired in the reception and lobby and emanates a classic atmosphere. The hotel is conveniently situated around the corner of the 'Dam' square, which offers excellent possibilities for the exploration of the inner city.

Hotel Rho houses in a beautiful building in the heart of the city centre. The building has served as a trading house for gold and was originally built to function as a theatre. Magnificent stained glass windows emphasize the Art-Deco style. The hotel is situated at a quiet, small street, in the middle of the centre. The 'Dam' square is around the corner. From the hotel several excursions, by boat or bus, can be organised at the hotel and the hotel offers parking space. This ensures plenty of opportunities to engage in an extensive cultural visit to the sparkling centre of Amsterdam. The numerous cafés, bars and restaurant that enrich Amsterdam are all within walking range.

Bicycles can be rent at the hotel, which brings the inner city even closer. Within 5 minutes you can reach the 'Koninklijk Paleis' (royal palace) as well as several museums and the 'Nieuwe Kerk', a church which regularly organises expositions. All of the rooms are equipped with bath and/or shower and toilet, minibar, direct phone line, fridge and lockers. Possessions can be stored safely here.

The location is great, the breakfast menu is generous, and i would definetly suggest the restaurants on the street that the hotel is located on. The best price among its category. Helpful staff.

Stayed during the christmas. The room was very hot just as i have read earlier from the remarks of the customers, but no big deal since there is a regulator on the radiator. No complaints.

Central but noisy

Helpful staff. Great location.

6 hours internet vouchers (you can have as many vouchers as you want, but the system is annoying). Very noisy (we could hear people walking on the upper floor or talking next door). We were woken up by call from reception at 1am one night - wrong room number.

Great hotel, but beware of noise!

Close to the train station and city center attractions, friendly and helpful staff, nice clean rooms. A good deal for the money.

A significant problem is lack of soundproofing in windows. If your room faces Nes (not sure about the other sides), you will hear street noise as if there were no glass in the windows. Unless you can ignore the noise, I'd recommend getting a pair of good earplugs or else don't plan to go to bed until 3-4 am...

Excellent location but a bit dated

My husband had stayed here once before. He liked the breakfast (pancakes, scrambled eggs and salmon slices), plus he knew location was city centre (right on Dam Square). Not the most up to date hotel but it served its purpose for our stay. It was a place to crash for a couple of night within an ideal location. As a late booking I think we got a good deal on price but if I had more time I think I would have chosen a cosy Bed and Breakfast along a scenic canal.

Thin walls and ceiling. Not so bad at night but in the morning you can hear everyone moving around and opening and shutting doors. Decor looks a bit dated.

almost cancelled booking because of twice getting erronous info on phone that the hotel does not activate heating at october. demanding entire payment in advance. after stay of 9 days when hurrying to shuttle was delayed because of phone call through reception at the cost of 25 cents.

The Rho Hotel was a pleasant surprise

The staff members were a very nice lot of people, always giving help about where to eat and what to see etc. The breakfast was superb. The location was perfect for city walks.

Sometimes there was some noise from the street below, but it wasn't a real disturbance. We always had a good night's sleep.

Great location, parking, good service

Excellent location, with covered secure parking. Decent price for those two factors. Friendly serivce. Price included breakfast, another plus.

Room smelled of old drains, probably from bathroom. But not too serious, since all we wanted to do was sleep in the room.

Great Hotel, Great Location, Great Short-Trip, Will Defo Return!

When we arrived we thought it was too early to check in since on the website is says you cant check in till 2pm but we were able to check in earlier which was a bonus, the hotel room was clean and spacious (very basic but what more do you need), breakfast was very good, hotel reception was very helpful and at the end when we asked for a late check out we wasnt charged unlike most hotels in europe. It was in a great location not a very busy street but everything was right in the next street. Overall it was a very pleasent stay and i definatly intend to return!!

Only thing that i can pick at is the television channels, there was only one or two english channels but you dont really spend that much time in your room anyways so not a big issue.

Great central hotel on Dam Sq, definitely recommend

Breakfast was included and it was of very good quality- a huge choice, therefore something to suit everyone. We arrived very early on the Friday morning - just before 10am, but even though check in wasn't until 2pm, there was a room available and so we were able to check in straight away. The bathroom was a good size, very clean and there was plenty of hot water and clean towels.

Although there the breakfast was good, on the Sunday, the restaurant was a lot busier than on the Saturday and the staff couldn't replenish the breakfast fast enough to keep up with the diners.

Uitstekend verzorgd ontbijt. Het beveiligd achter kunnen laten van de bagage.

Bij een lek op de kamer tijdens een stortbui stonden zo goed als nieuwe schoenen vol water. Hierop werd door de receptioniste erg afstandelijk gereageerd. Geen teken van begrip voor deze beschadiging.

Great for an overnight stay near the train station

Close to center of town; price not bad at all for the location. Internet access was nice. It's a great place to stay if you are just overnighting in Amsterdam (as I was). I've stayed at the Rho three times now and will do so again when I need a place for one night near the train station (15 min walk).
