You will find King Hotel in an ideal location in Amsterdam city centre that is suitable for business travellers as well as tourists. The Leidseplein, the lively Jordaan area, the Dam Square and the Museumplein are all within walking distance. It is also the place to stay if you want to spend an afternoon shopping in the P.C. Hooftstraat, enjoy a performance at the Concertgebouw (Concert Hall) or simply relax during a few leisurely hours in the Vondelpark.

From Amsterdam Central Station you can reach the King Hotel with tram 1, 2 or 5 (get off at the stop, Leidseplein). From Amsterdam Schiphol Airport you can take the KLM city bus, (which stops at the Marriott hotel) or the Connexxion Shuttle Bus. Both buses stop at 50 metres from the hotel and depart every half hour. The hotel is also easy to reach by car.

The hotel is located in a 17th century canal house and was once the residence of Mata Hari. The building was fully renovated in 2007 and has been transformed into a modern, cosy family-run hotel with non-smoking rooms that are fitted with a private shower and toilet, LCD television, telephone, safe and hairdryer. Several rooms offer a canal view.

Buyer Beware

  • – Internet went out and the staff was very unhelpful in trying to fix the problem. They made lots of excuses and I think they never even made a phone call to try to get it fixed. They told me to go to McDonalds. I think the price is very high for the type of hotel and service.

  • * my tip Stayed in a one bed single room. Room was fine. Bed and towel seemed to be clean. Elevator was a bit scary. I think it was a bit pricey but I guess that's what you gotta pay for a private bathroom.

not worth the price...
  • – Personnel were very rude on arrival saying that we were too late to check in. This was out of our hands as our flight was delayed and the fact it was still only half 11 at night, being a hotel you would expect a receptionist to be available at that time. We were also asked to switch rooms after the 1st night for no apparent reason.

Cheap, but not worth it
  • + It was cheap. The linen seemed clean. The bathroom was clean. The location is nice.
  • – The carpet throughout was ratty and dirty. The hotel had an odor of insecticide. The breakfast was weak, for instance the bread was just sliced bread, and there was little selection. The place was not well maintained, for example there were no batteries in the TV remote, not that the TV was placed where you cold well use it. The walls were thin, it was easy to be disturbed by people simply talking in nearby rooms.

  • – We reserved a twin bed room, unfortunately there was a mistake and we received only a 1 bed room....we received back a refund of 20 euros. the personnel is very poor knowledge of politesse. It was told that there is free internet access, I had to buy minutes, in fact, for 4 euros 60 minutes, but it took only 15 minutes.....

Hotel at quiet location in centre of Amsterdam
  • + Quiet hotel and decent breakfast. Price/quality good, taking into account that this is a hotel located in the centre of Amsterdam. Employees very friendly.
  • – Manager or owner hotel ignores arriving guests. In the night a mouse I heard a noise and discovered a mouse that being chased by me , disappeared through the opening of the door of the room.
