+ Fabulous canal-side eating and drinking area. Lovely open fire in bar with good selection of drinks. Great restaurant with wonderful views over the canal.

- The Do Not Disturb sign is ignored by housekeeping staff. This was worst on my last day where I had arranged a late checkout. I had a Do Not Disturb sign on my door, yet I still had room service knocking, then a call from reception, then another call from the area managers, all asking if I wanted my room cleaned. This was hours before I was due to check out. Comunication between the different service divisions in the hotel needs a lot of improvement. Room service is over priced and not reliable eg. only half the order delivered or delivered late. In-room cable movie swtiched off 3/4 way through. No fast forward on movie available so had to watch from start again. Movie selection too small and no recent releases.

+ Good price for the room. Excellent service and quality. Great accomodations. Decent location. Overall, an excellent choice.

- Wireless internet should be included in the price. Breakfast, parking, internet, all extras are extraordinarily expensive, and detracts from the experience.

+ Polite staff. Good toilet paper. Beautiful location. I can only imagine a room with a view.

- Where's the management here? I ordered coffee with milk from room service and got a POT of coffee, a thimble full of milk and an overflowing BOWL of cubed sugar. The concierge did not know where I could buy a Herald Tribune, not even sure he knew what that was! The desk clerk said I needed to allow one hour before flight time to arrange for the shuttle. Hello? Now, for international is is TWO and ONE HALF HOURS! I won't even go into the story of when I requested a small vase or glass for a 5 stem bouquet! (Imagine a vase big enough for 50 stems, which I sent back and was re-presented with a smaller one, by about 1 mm.) I began to feel like Alice in Wonderland. I am not a novice traveler, nor am I the obnoxious American tourist. I am just looking for a little bit of intelligence and common sense, and maybe some training in basic hotel knowledge.

+ The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was a decent size with a nice view and had all amenities that are usual for a 4 star hotel.

- The room needed renovation and there was mold in the bathroom. In general it wasn't very clean. The hotel was out of the center.

- watch out for the hidden cost! 5 Euros for a bottel of water in the room, which you not awear of you have to pay...as well as very expensive parking and breakfast!

+ Look out for the head waiter in the restaurant - a real nice guy. Outlook across the canal (from the side with the suites) was very nice Room decor - comfortable and smart

- It seemed impossible to get my minibar refilled each day. Why did the maid take the old face cloth and not replace it with a new one?

+ Great hotel at an affordable price. Location is not bad either: the shuttle service covers the transport to and from the airport, and if you are travelling as a couple, it's a little cheaper than taking a cab. The hotel is not too far from downtown either, 5 minute walk to the nearest tram station, take tram #4 and in 5 minutes you are downtown, close to all good restaurants and shops.

- None. Great xperience.

+ The hotel is in the very nice area, not far from a tram station, so one can reach everything very easily. The hotel itself is cozy, the stuff is great and pleasant. We had a room with a very nice view to a canal. We'll come back!

+ I think this hotel has a great location. What is wrong with all the people who wrote things about that it is to far away from everything. These people must be lazy, or not used, or able to walk. Like most of my fellow americans. Just walk a couple blocks to get to your tram and you are immediately at the museum district or at the central station. Great facility, and ambianceâ”if you look for something romantic. One of the nicest set-ups in Amsterdam â”I think. Excellent Hotel. Very clean, nice design. And a excellent menu at the restaurant (I havn't tried to it there, because there were other restaurants I went on this trip).I know this city for over 20 years. Book it if you are not to cheap to spend the little extra money!!! Quite hotel, which is really close to everything. Thumbs up for this one.

+ The food in the restaurant was excellent. On day of check out front desk were extremely obliging in collecting luggage from room and storing whilst I was out to ensure I could meet the check out time.

- Room too hot at night (many other conference delegates agreed). Bed a bit too soft. Resent being asked to pay minimum charge just to internet an airline check in; so I had to call my london office to do it for me.

+ Great evening meal, and the restaurant was very accommodating as we arrived just before it was about to close. Also, excellent location near the RAI and easy access to city centre. Comfortable, clean rooms. Had a very pleasant stay even though it was only brief!

- Although it's very nicely done at the Golden Tulip, breakfast is overpriced.

- Toilet's smelled. Room was untidy (found rubbish in the wardrobe and a tissue in the toilet on arrival. Had to sleep with the windows wide open because I was unable to turn down the heating. The guy greeting us at breakfast was abrubt.

+ Room recently refurbished to good standard. We were politely received by the staff, who made us feel very welcome without being overly corporate. Our evening meal was one of the best we've had, ever. Spectactularly good food and wine - very well done. Restaurant service also to a very high standard. A quality hotel with reasonable rates.

- If I had to criticise, I can't see how you justify charging for parking when there is so much free street parking immediately around the hotel. Also, charging for wifi is absurd in this day and age - I didn't take you up on it out of principle. Don't let yourselves get a reputation for penny pinching...!

+ Lovely hotel. Spacious room and comfortable bed. location ideal for us as we were visiting family close by. It is a little out from the city centre but this is easily reached by tram. Secure parking a bonus if a little pricey!

- Our face flannels mysteriously disappeared after the first night. We didn't have breakfast as it seemed very expensive.

+ Reception and bus boys were extremely friendly and helpful with tracking down connexion and providing places to visit

- Room was extremely hot, could not turn on the air conditioning just for the room. Leaving the window open does not leave much to cool the room, even at night.

+ I liked the fact that the cost for breakfast was kept separate from the room costs. It ensured we were not billed for somethign we would not have used since both my partner and I are not breakfast eaters. Oh, I also liked the mints on the lampstand that helped with morning breath when we wanted to kiss and cuddle before showering ;)

- I didn't like the dark stain on the bottom of the toilet bowl. It made it look unhygenic (Room 530)

+ A gorgeous hotel in a quiet and pleasant residential setting. I have stayed in a number of hotels but would most definitely return to this one. We were fortunate enough to be given a room with a terrace/patio which made the stay even more enjoyable. The staff were extremely efficient, obliging, pleasant and courteous

+ The staff were very approachable, helpful and professional. Room service was fantastic as was the food served in the resteraunt, we have travelled alot in the last 2 years and the food served in your hotel has been the best we have come across so far.The hotel was located in a nice area and not far to walk to the museum area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you and would definately stay with you again if returning to Amsterdam.

- There was no minus points during our stay.

- Smoking room (chain smoker's room) smelled worse than an ashtray, and so did all my clothes afterwards. A little more airing would have been nice. well pricey (paid ¤150 for one night!), but surely a little less of a rip-off than the (booked out) central hotels at the busy time I was there

+ Exceptionally helpful staff at desk.

- Construction in lobby was dirty and noisy at times. The first day I got there, there was drilling during the day. The staff did a nice job of cleaning up during the evening hours and it was quiet then, but it will be nicer once all the construction is finished.

+ Bell Boy attention We claimed for the quality of the room and were moved to a more comfortable room

- To much dust in the 1st room Mattress in very poor conditions The 1st night the sheets were not placed I was charged twice (6 Euro) for the use of Internet during the same 24 hour period and the hotel's staff was not prepared to fix the problem.

+ The reception staff were extremely helpful throughout and particular after we checked out and couldn't find something we brought to the hotel. They went to great lengths to assist and my wife and I were terribly impressed with their attitude throughout.

- Breakfast should be included in the standard room rate. At 22 Euro per person, it's far too expensive.

+ Hotel felt it was in a safe area (residential) although a good 20 mins from the city, but the trams were very good and reasonably priced transport. Sitting out by the river was very relaxing. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

- Building work was going on, when we left on the Monday am it was very noisy and we were glad we were not staying during the week. Hotel rooms are in need of updating, but very clean.
