The NH Tropen Hotel is situated on the eastern side of Amsterdam, near the Tropenmuseum and Artis Zoo. In the vicinity of the NH Tropen Hotel Amsterdam you will find several exciting attractions. How about visiting the oldest zoo in Europe, Artis Zoo? Animals from all over the world are neighbours in this park, which also consists of interesting museums, a planetarium and a botanical garden. The Tropenmuseum is adjacent to the hotel. This museum houses an extensive anthropological collection and is part of the Royal Institute for the Tropics, together with the Tropentheater. Whilst you take your time to admire the collection, your children can enjoy themselves in Tropenmuseum Junior with its regular interactive expositions. Another attraction that is suitable for all ages is the Waterlooplein. On this flea market you can rummage through antiques and second-hand clothing.

In the NH Tropen Hotel you stay in stylish and comfortably furnished rooms that are equipped with a private bathroom, coffee and tea making facilities and a safe. Several buses and tram lines depart from the vicinity of the hotel and as a hotel guest you can park your car on the private parking area. Amsterdam's historic centre, the RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre, Schiphol Amsterdam Airport and the World Trade Centre are easy to reach by car as well as by public transport. The hotel has a shuttle bus service to Schiphol at a fee.

Kick off the day with a breakfast buffet. The breakfast room is open from Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 10:00 h. and during the weekend between 07:00 and 11:00 h.
In Bar Brasserie Comodo they serve international dishes, which are prepared with simple but fresh ingredients. From this brasserie you can enjoy a nice view of the Oosterpark.

Good value in a nice area

I really like this hotel and stay here often. It is good value, particularly if you book more than a week in advance, with larger than the average Amsterdam hotel room. Service is friendly and I like this part of town although it may not be central enough for some. It's a short tram ride to the centre.

Breaksfast is not included and rather expensive, although it is a good spread. I just skip it and have a broodje in a cafe, of which there are many near by - I recommend the Ponteneur. Maxwells and Boom.

Sadly none.

Far everything except the adjoining Tropen musem. Limited amenities in room (ex. no minibar), few international TV channels, no free internet. Deceptive internet policy; advertised as a flat rate for 24 hours but with a limit on speed and the amount downloaded...outrageous!

location was good, rooms were clean, beds were good, quiet. price quality was good.

early in the morning the roommaid made a lot of noise, the bar was closed at 23.00 altough there were about 14 visitors at 22.30. The bar maid allready cleaned up the bar and wasn't all time behind the bar.

Good choice relative to other hotels in same price range

Good standard of room compared for similar priced rooms in the city. Most hotels in Amsterdam are terribly overpriced in my opinion though.

Breakfast was laughably expensive, you can be in a cafe in the plantage area in five minutes having a lovely broodje and coffee for a fraction of the money.

Very good location. Very kind staff at the hotel. Excellent buffet for breakfast (we booked a room with breakfast included). Rooms are very clean. We can park the car next to the hotel because private car parking.

The toilets are really too small.One important thing to say is that the room is not adapted for disabled people. It is impossible to enter the room with a wheel chair. The beds are a little bit too high.
