+ For me, for this trip, the hotel location was ideal since I arrived at Amsterdam Zuid 1,2 km away and had a morning visit 0,8 km from the hotel. Window opened.

- Bed too soft. I moved the mattress to the floor, but it was too large for the floor space. Wake up service on phone provided only in Dutch. Staff unable explain operation of this service. No "life" surrounding the hotel. Impossible to find a night meal except in the hotel restuarant. Hotel restuarant had limited menu and overworked staff. Its posh style was oh so superficial. One could say this for the hotel altogether.

+ Located near RAI, near to station, metro and tram, so is easy to get to via public transport.

- At the moment the hotel is being refurbished. I would suggest not staying there until refurbishment is completed. Parking at hotel is very expensive €22 per night, or part of... I believe it is €4.50 per hour otherwise. Currently the restaurant and bar are combined inside one of the conference rooms, so there is no atmosphere, and it feels like a building site. What amazes me is that they are still charging full price for everything even though it is a mess. I will not be staying there again until the refurbishment is completed.

+ Nice rooms, clean bathroom, free internet.

- Poor services via phone - a few times nobody picked up the the phone and even once staff dropped the call. No free breakfast. Also, I couldn't change 500 Euro bill - I learnt that they are not accepted but what was I supposed to do? I got it in my local bank... Going to GWK took me half of the day. I think hotels should provide money changing services same as they do provide currency exchange.

+ Clean rooms and the staff were friendly and efficient.

- Ate in the restaurant the first night, one of our meals was served cold. A guest at a neighbouring table had the same problem. Fridge in the room is too small to store personal items. Thought that 12.5 Euros to watch the sports channel was expensive.

+ Communication problems regarding a watch (cf. 'minus points' below) were perfectly solved by the hotel personnel.

- The diamont shop promised more than they could do (opened a watch to change battery, not being able to put it together again). The problem was, however, quickly fixed in another shop (no extra cost for us).

+ Clean and comfortable.

- Freek Donk checked us in and assured us that our breakfast was included in our pre-paid hotel price. We did not believe that it did, but he promised us that is was already paid for. It was not and we were charged on check out. Had we been given the option, we would certainly not have chosen a buffet breakfast at extra cost.

- Room is not business oriented. Overall cleanliness of rooms average at best. (E.g. at check-in, ashtrays had not been emptied/cleaned) Business center not adequate to meet today’s international standards/requirements. Bathroom amenities poor (e.g. no bathrobe available). Restaurant not conducive for business meals

- Reservation was unknown at the front desk of the hotel. Initial reaction of the staff was very dissatisfactory saying the hotel was full even when I presented my conservation number.

+ Nice, clean hotel. Good service.

- Price, lack of free wireless for the price. Ended up making an error and dialing into work using a US toll free number instead of an NL toll free and ended up with a 150 euro bill (3 hours). Obviously not the fault of the hotel, but if they didn't try to overcharge for wireless, none of this would have happened.

+ Although it is some way from the city centre, it is at least only a very short walk from the train station. The rooms are large and modern and you will not be disappointed if this is your main criteria.

- Breakfast was probably too expensive at the current rate. Additionally, the 5% "city tax" (not the hotels fault) is not familiar to UK guests and was a nasty suprise at check-out.

+ The staff were very polite and helpful. The food was good, too. The rooms are a decent size, well appointed and clean.

- The hotel is well-situated for anyone attending the nearby conference centre, but not great for a tourist visit (although there's a tram to the city centre).

+ The room, the bathroom, the breakfast and the service qat the infoirmationdesk - brilliant!

- The resturant at our first evening. We where very hungry - there where a lot of tables free, but apparently not at the the right side of the room... When we asked we were told that that area was closed. For me "strange"... and you lost appr 80 euros.

+ Een ruime gezellige entree met vrolijke kleuren, geeft een warm ontvangst. mogelijkheid voor thee op de hotelkamer is erg prettig.

- Ik vind dat bij de prijs van de kamer het ontbijt erbij mag horen. Er is geen mogelijkheid ergens anders te ontbijten en bijna ¤20,- voor een ontbijt is wel erg prijzig. En anders kosten van ontbijt niet meer dan ¤7.50

+ Very good value, well kept hotel. For the most part staff are helpful. Some may see location as a downside. True you are not in the centre so you do miss out on the energy that comes with being in the middle of it, but it's 10mins from the airport by train. You also have a tram stop within two minutes walk that goes straight into the centre in about 15mins.

- Not many. Service was a little slow to react to difficulties with television in the room. Also for peace of mind checked train availability with two members of staff and was informed, as it was a sunday there was a special bus service to the airport. In fact the trains were running fine. Found this out having spent 20 mins waiting for bus.

+ The hotel was very up to date and stylish. I ate in the restaurant one night and the food was very good. The room was very comfortable also.

- The room was very expensive by Australian standards even though I got it through a heavily reduced special. I guess compared to Amsterdam standards it was probably competitive. I was disappointed to find that it didn't have a swimming pool as I have not yet come across a 4 star hotel that doesn't. I found the maids were very intrusive. i was woken on a sunday morning at 8:30am by the maid trying to come in and clean the room. I thought this was really too early and not very fair. Also, even when I did leave a do not disturb sign on the door I was getting phone calls from the cleaners asking if they could still clean the room. I think if there is a sign on the door then they shouldn't hassle you to still come in and try and clean.

+ Good connection with other highways, good public transport to town. Good variety for breakfast and plenty of it.

- There are actually none, but... one can always introduce more and better facilities. Like shorten the waiting time for elevators in the rush hour (mornings)

+ The room was fantastic, clean, new it was great. The restaurant served fantastic food and the waitress was very helpful. The reception staff were even more helpful and did a fantastic job guiding us and giving us the best tips for Amsterdam which made our stay even better. Great hotel, great service, Fantastic Staff. Well Done!

- Well the only thing I can give it a minus about and for this I am being picky which really wasn't that bad but the location to the city.

+ Excellent price, great location - loved the laid back attitude of the staff - made us feel really welcome. The 24hr check in counter was also really useful and the staff were still really friendly late at night!

- Hard to think of any but I guess an earlier check in time would have been helpful - not really too much of a problem though!
