The Quentin England stands in the quiet 'Roemer Visscherstraat', within the historic heart of Amsterdam. On one side of this street lies the beautiful 'Vondelpark'. This park is popular with the locals as well as tourists to enjoy a (free) open air concert during summertime, take a stroll in, to enjoy a picnic or to just relax in the grass. And after this recharge it is time to discover the city. From the hotel it is only a 3-minute walk to the cosy bars, the casino and the clubs that surround the 'Leidseplein'. Within a 5-minute walk you will find several renowned museums at the 'Museumplein', such as the 'Rijksmuseum', the 'Stedelijk Museum' and the 'Van Gogh Museum'. The exclusive shops of the 'P.C. Hooftstraat' are also just around the corner from the hotel.

The building of The Quentin England is one of the 'Zevenlandenhuizen' (houses of seven countries). This attraction is also known as 'Verenigd Europa' (United Europe). These houses are a good example of some typical building styles of seven European countries: France, England, The Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Spain and Italy. All of the rooms in the hotel are equipped with a television, telephone, shower and toilet and a desk. The hotel’s perfect location enables you to enjoy the vibrant city of Amsterdam, but at the same time ensures you some peace and quiet in the lobby or in the privacy of your room.

Non-smoking rooms are available on request. Guests have access to a smoking garden. The hotel offers free Internet, a free city map and you can also purchase tickets at the reception for several museums and sights.

Great location, friendly staff
  • + The Quentin England Amsterdam is in an amazing location, just off the Leidseplein, which has a great choice of bars and restaurants. The hotel staff were very nice and accommodating, and we were upgraded at check in.
  • The shower was almost falling off the wall which made using it a bit difficult, and our double bed consisted of 2 singles pushed together which is not what we expected.
  • * my tip We loved Gauchos- the Argentinean restaurant on the Leidseplein. Had amazing steak and red wine!

Simple but good location
  • + No traffic noise, a peaceful location. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was simple but enough, it cost 7 euros. The room was clean but simple (just one clothes hanger per person). Ask for a non-smoker room.
  • A very steep staircase, not for people with bad legs. The walls were paper thin: at the night a neighbour came home at 5 o´clock in the night and we awoke. In the bathroom the electric contact box was not shielded and it was located by the shower: a potential risk for death! In the bathroom there was mold in the ceiling, so be aware if you are allergetic to it. The double bed was ok, but the third bed for a 183 cm long teenager was too short.
  • * my tip Take your own clothes hangers with you as well as your own hair dryer if needed.

Great location, great bed!
  • + Location is perfect!
  • Room is small, but that how is it in Amsterdam. Service is great for the nordic point of view - I'm sure small talk-orientaded persons might find service too passive.

You'll enjoy Amsterdam a lot more staying somewhere else!
  • + Ive stayed at this hotel before and it is a decent hotel except our stay wasnt too pleasant this last time.
  • I understand we stayed here during the week of Queen's Day so prices were going to be higher but we were over charged for a bed in an attic. The door couldnt even open two thirds of the way because it would hit the bed. My wife and I each had only one suitcase and with our bags there was never no room for the both of us to get dressed in the morning at the same time. There was no ventiliation in the room except for a skylight which if you opened it would cause dirt from the hotel's roof to fall directly onto our bed. With all this said and the heavy price tag for our stay there was no wi-fi for the entire 5-day stay and we'd ask daily if it was fixed and they would say "tomorrow".

  • + nice place, both the hotel and the area, kind staff
  • some repair of the inside could be much better, and also the cleaning, and a lot of stairs to the room

Friendly & cheap
  • + Cheaper than the rest and happy to book for just one night. Friendly helpful staff. Luggage room so you can leave your bag and see town on your last day. 24 hr reception.
  • I stayed in the cheapest room, so I have no idea what their nicer rooms are like: My room was pretty basic and compact, but they made that clear when I booked it. The only slight gripe I would have is that the sound insulation between the rooms in the basement isn't great and the stairs down there are pretty steep. It suited me because I wanted to spend as much time as possible seeing Amsterdam and as little time as possible seeing the hotel!
