Description

Hotel Sint Nicolaas is a cosy hotel in the centre of Amsterdam. Thanks to the central location, all of the areas of interest are within grasp. In the small hotel the 27 diverse rooms offer a world of comfort for every kind of traveller.

The monumental building used to function as an office in the old harbour front. This seems odd, since the canals that surrounded the building were filled up to provide more space for traffic. The naval activity in the 18th and 19th century was replaced with the sparkling city centre as it is nowadays. Many companies shut down because of the decrease in naval industry in the surroundings. The 18th and 19th century structures were often converted to apartments and hotels, which consequently formed excellent starting points for culture seeking travellers.

Hotel Sint Nicolaas has a wide variety of room types. All of the rooms overlook the sparkling city centre, but quiet rooms are also easily arranged. On top of this, the rooms are fitted with double glass windows. Do you have something to celebrate, or would you like to surprise a loved one? Do not hesitate to ask the staff or place a request on the booking form. The rooms are all equipped with private bathroom (bath and/or shower), television, phone and safe. Comfy nights are guaranteed by the delightful box spring beds in each room.

Continental breakfast is served on the ground floor between 07:30 and 10:00 h. Various types of bread, fruit and cereals fruit ensure a good start of the day. Situated on ground floor as well you will find the cosy bar, where you can enjoy typical Dutch liquors until the late (or early) hours.

Great Location, Fine Hotel

Close to Central Station and transportation. Nice atmosphere. Some rooms more interesting than others.

Only liquid soap in the bathroom. "Free internet" is only for first 30 minutes and then a bit of a pain getting new IDs for purchased extension time.

Excellent choice

Excellent location, anything not within the immediate area (a lot) was accessible by tram with stops just outside the door.

Upon booking a double bed we found out it was two beds put together - falling between them happened a few times!

Over charged!!!!! Total price € 565.00 for three nights???? While sitting having breakfast people were walking into your hotel off the street and asking for room prices and they were told € 95.00 per night....?????? We will be returning in Aug but and would like to stay at your hotel BUT not for € 188.33 per night!!!!!!

Location was short walk from train station and very close to tram routes 2 and 5. Good basic hotel, nothing fancy but nothing really bad.

Weather and room was very warm so needed to open the windows for air. The noise of the trams made it slightly difficult to sleep.

Good location.

NO air-conditioning. Room like a SAUNA. Not a hotel to stay in in any kind of warm weather. Staff seemed to find GUESTS a huge INCONVENIENCE. Asked for an extra pillow and we were told that this was not possible. In a hotel, charging over €200 per night??????? BREAKFAST quite POOR. No fruit. No variety of juice /cereals. Also service at breakfast was ridiculous. Came down one morning at 9am and no table set. Member of staff looking at us but too caught up texting her mates to get cutlery etc. Had to go up and ask her for every single item that we needed i.e may we have a bowl; may we have a spoon; may we have a cup. Again, this lady seemed very put out to be interrupted! Have stayed in hotels in all major cities all over Europe.. This hotel was by far THE WORST VALUE FOR MONEY I have ever encountered! Would not recommend it.

Very central easy access to train station by foot and all other attractions on a nice street with all necessities available and street was quiet at night no problems with the staff I liked this hotel and would stay in it again it had all we needed

would have liked a DO NOT DISTURB sign to put on the door as the cleaners were round at 10am sharpe and were zealous about doing the job which is in no way a bad thing

Location could not have been more perfect - we could see Amsterdam Central from our window. The room was recently renovated in a nice way. Decent bathroom.

Due to the limited space in the building, the head of the bed in our room (43) was in a low alcove, about 40 cm deep. While this caused no problems while sleeping, it did cause a few interruptions (and bumps) in "other activities". Some padding would be welcome there!

Manager was a nightmare - zero customer care. We were unhappy with our room and were moved to a better room by a staff member. We were happy with this until we were on our way out and the manager insisted that we pay for our stay (which we did, by credit card) and then told us we had to move back into the room we were unhappy with. We explained that we were not happy with the first room but the second room was okay but he then told us to leave the hotel but also that we would lose money as we 'cancelled'. He left the hotel mid converstaion and did not return, it was left to another (helpful) hotel worker to sort things out and to apologise on the manager's behalf. A very frustrating experience as no one would accept reposnibility. Incidently, the reason why we were not happy with the first room was because, 1. the toilet was broken, 2. the room was dirty, 3. there was blood on the sheets.

in contradiction to the above yolz or jolz (phonetic) was outstanding on the front desk and stood out well above the others as he assisted us. breakfasts included were a definite plus

The front desk's reaction to any requests was nonchalant and often without any response other than a smile. the young lady who first received us was much more interested in the young man she constantly chatted with (who was remodeling the hotel entrance way) than ever on our checking-in. later, we needed an adapter plug for our computer and one was never "found". each person on desk said "oh yes, there's one somewhere but apparently lost with the construction". i would have preferred the hotel make some effort to get a new one. that shouldn't be difficult. meanwhile we could not conduct business via our personal personal laptop computer.

Inconvenience of renovations was kept to a minimum and mess cleared away each day. Two minor problems in one of the rooms was dealt with immediately it was reported. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Good continental breakfast-plenty of choice. Very good central location within very easy walking distance from the station, trams, canal buses and central Amsterdam. Surrounded by places to eat out.

On one night I was not able to have a hot bath at about 1900 since all the hot water had apparently been used up by other guests. Due to energy saving bulbs, the lighting in the room was not particularly bright, especially when you wanted to read.

Quiet hotel and fantastic location, in the centre of Amsterdam, everything in walking distance, clean, nice and polite staff, very reliable!!!, great breakfast buffet. All in all, everything was great, there were no problems or unpleasant moments during our whole stay. Recommended if you are not looking for a crazy Amsterdam trip.

There was no really negative point, everything was okay, in fact perfect, the service and the hotel as such delivered as expected, a little extra care (more talkative staff for instance) would make it just the bit better than perfect.
