Description

The city lies at your feet during a stay in the Tulip Inn Amsterdam Centre. Go on a shopping spree in the shops of the 'Kalverstraat' and the 'Nieuwendijk' or in the exclusive department store 'de Bijenkorf'. Book a canal cruise at one of the companies that are situated near Amsterdam Central Station, which is within 500 meters from the hotel. Visit museums such as the 'Anne Frank Huis', the 'Rijksmuseum' or the 'Scheepvaartmuseum' maritime museum. Rummage through the bargains at the flea market on the 'Waterlooplein' or take a stroll along the flower stalls and souvenir stalls on the flower market at the 'Singel'. Just around the corner from the hotel you will find the 'Warmoesstraat', which is part of the lively Red Light District. The 'Beurs van Berlage' is located nearby as well. Tulip Inn Amsterdam Centre is situated in 10 monumental buildings, that date back to the 18th century. There are two multifunctional air conditioned conference rooms in the hotel for business meetings. After a busy day you can lean back in the bar whilst you sip on a relaxing drink. The elegant hotel rooms are equipped with a private bathroom, a television and internet connection. In the business rooms there are some extra amenities, such as a safe and a minibar. Almost no noise insulation from other rooms too, which were full of drunk guys shouting until three in the morning.

I had requested a ground floor room, and was given one. :-); - Air conditioning unit wasn't working properly - when turned on, it'd switch itself back off/on regularly. TV was at a slightly awkward angle for watching from bed. Safe battery had run out, so was out of order.

Anonymous Spot-on for budget-travelers in the heart of Amsterdam!: 24 October 2011; 8.0; + Location in the heart of Amsterdam and short distance to all facilities. Walking-distance to Dam square, Central station and shopping street. Furthermore the bathroom seemed newly renovated and the price was very friendly for people on a budget. friendly staff as well! :-); - The carpet-floors makes it a bit smelly in the hall etc. Smells old-like. But I have to say it did not bother us in our room. nice and clean!

Anonymous Water boiler in each room !!!!: 3 August 2011; 6.8; + Surprisingly, they provide the guests with a water boiler in each rooms, which we did not find in any other hotels we stayed, including the ones in France, Italy, even Austria and Germany.; - The decoration is relatively old style.

KOSHY PHILIP Centrally located, but expensive.: 3 August 2011; 3.4; + Cenrally located. No breakfasrt even after patying E 100 single; - Even with lift, to your rooms may mean a climb of a few stairs with luggage. Some single rooms are small and dinghy.

Anonymous The room was without possibility to open the window and change air.: 26 March 2010; 6.0; + Location; - I booked 2 rooms, one was without the opportunity to open the window, it was a corridor behind. When I wanted fresh air, I had to open the door and breath the air from the corridor! I think it was a storage room before. The second room had the view to shaft, but I could see sky overhead and breath. The staff was not friendly at all.

Russell Priem A comfortable, economical hotel with central location: 6 March 2010; 9.4; + Location is very central only a short walk from the Central Station on the edge of the Red light district, very well placed for excursions into the city. Although it was a bit noisy due to it's location. Single room was very pleasant, bathroom looked new and was very clean, bed very comfortable. Breakfast for 10euros was excellent and well worth it with a big choice of hot and cold food. LCD tv in the room. There was a storage room for bags which was locked for those with later flights. I would stay there again.; - Not many, the hotel had run out of safety deposit boxes but the person on reception indicated that it would be safe to leave things in my room, so I did with no problems. It was a bit noisy due to it's very central location, but it didn't really bother me unduly.

James Moore Location, Quality, A-OK!!: 22 December 2009; 9.8; + Great location......fairly priced.......comfortable room.......kind/helpful staff. Enjoyed my stay!; - None that I can think of. Perhaps they were having issues with heating at one point of my stay as I saw plumbers looking at pipes in reception, and noticed my room was a little cold on 1 evening, but the whole country was freezing, so wasn't a worry to me.

Salah Mandil No, thank you; do not book me in there again!: 29 September 2009; 4.0; + Friendly staff.; - Most uncomfortable: e.g. having to walk up 3 plus 5 steps and then walk down 3 is the only way to get to a room on the stipulated floor. Non-hygiene: had to demand the shower wall to be scraped of fungus. Noisy: next to a church whose bells kept ringing every hour for 18 hours per day!

TS Good room for the price and location: 31 August 2009; 7.8; + Good price for the location and room, my safe was out of batteries the night I checked in, they did not fix right away but it got taken care of promptly the next morning, all in all can't complain.; - Some small technical issues with things in the room (window locks, safe lock, fixtures in bathroom, switches, etc...) but for an older building, nothing out of the ordinary for Amsterdam...

Marcus Wannemacher Not recommended: 13 August 2009; 5.2; + Great location.; - I chose this hotel because it has A/C and I was returning from Africa with a night's layover in Amsterdam. Needed a good night's rest for another 9 hour flight home. The elevators were broken, the A/C was broken, and the tiny rooms (I didn't expect big rooms) were boiling hot.

ND Good enough for a very short stay.: 1 June 2009; 5.6; + Location. Close to train station and all the action.; - Small rooms. Lots of night time noise from the streets. Bathroom appeared very unclean (lots of mildew). Dirty exhaust fan was exposed and never stopped running.

Rick Barrett Recommended for the whole family: 18 May 2009; 10; + Great location and helpful staff made my stay in Amsterdam a pleasure. Breakfast was substantial and kicked off the day well.; - Staff were unable to find the iron so I had to wear crumpled shirts. Buying a second iron would help.

Anonymous Excellent value, great location, don't let a few niggles put you off: 27 April 2009; 9.4; + Staff are very pleasant and helpful. The location is ideal for short stays and close to the central station to get any tram everywhere for the longer stays; - Maintenance in some rooms is poor. The last room I stayed in had sockets hanging out of the wall with bare wires exposed as well as a broken bedside lamp switch that was dangerous. During a previous stay at the hotel the heating didn't work. I'd still come back as it is better than almost any other hotel in the area for the price.

Large room .; - Room cleaning service minimal - even tea cups had to be washed up. Breakfast fairly OK but hot food was cold - especially eggs! -or finished early and not replenished
