The 5-star deluxe Sofitel Amsterdam The Grand hotel is definitely one of a kind. This former 16th Century royal guest house has a very elaborate history and is restored in all its splendour. Behind the grand façade of this historic premises lies a unique hotel that is carefully decorated in the Anglo-French style. The large rooms seem even more spacious because of the high windows and ceilings. They are equipped with a bathroom that is decorated in Art Deco style. There is a bathrobe for every guest. This a la carté restaurant breathes an informal atmosphere and is renowned for its exceptional kitchen. Here you have an ample choice of culinary French specialties and the most exquisite wines. Weather permitting, guests can have an extensive dinner on the cosy terrace in the inner courtyard.

The room was lovely and the bed excellent to sleep in. We had the breakfast in the room Sunday morning and it was very tasty and the service perfect.
I had booked the restaurant in your hotel for Saturday evening as it was a special evening for us and I had read that the Grand Hotel restaurant should be one of the best or even the best restaurant in Amsterdam. We have no complaints concerning the food but the service was not up to the standard we expected from the reputation and the advertisement you do. It seemed to lack co-ordination. We had eaten almost half of the enré before we were served the wine and we had tried to get the attention of one of your staff without success. I can mention here that it was a warm entré so by the time we got the wine, the food was almost cold. Coming to the main course we were not served the meat we had ordered but instead the waiter brought us fish. As we did not want to wait extra for the correct plate and not to destroy the evening for us we accepted the plates when they were served to us. However, we mentioned this to your staff but with no special reaction or appology from their side which made me feel disappointed. We would most certainly stay in your hotel next time we come to Amsterdam but personally I am not sure I will take a chance to visit your restaurant again.

good location if you are on holiday but not that easily accessed due to work on the canal.
Very limited room service menu which was exaggeratedly over-priced. You will be compelled to eat outside the hotel which, for a woman traveling alone, is not always desirable. I had to ask twice for face towels, I had to ask for a pen in the room (they brought me an old chewed up BIC PEN The bed was old - very soft The pillows were rubbery and uncomfortable but I was told they didn't have feather pillows. The safe didn't work in my room. These details are unacceptable in a 5 star hotel and at these prices.

Good restaurant, mostly nice craw.
We had ask for non smoking room, they give us a smoking room without any comments in the incheck. When we come back to ask for a new non smoking, the said, we have no non n.s. room, all are ockupaid, jes but sir, we ask for that in our reservation. "Your reservation was made from internet, we have no responsible for that, we can´t read and answer this. Floor 1-3 is non smoking and they are all ockupaid today madam. (We had another room on floor 4 with less smook) We checked in 20.30 in the evening, tired after travelling, I was not satisfaid with this guy and his answer. All the others crew was very serviceminded.

Stunning hotel
our room did not have a garden view as stipulated in the the booking confirmation. Also our room was located on the back on one of the small streets and was very noise especially early in the morning

Very pleasent staff. And a very good breakfast with an attentive but not overly fussy manager. A bar and louge area that gave you exactly what you needed - a cofee, fresh juice or a drink whenever you wanted it.
Compared to the Amstel intercontinental the pool area had no amotsphere even allowing for no view to a river. No staff on duty. No fresh juices available. No relaxing area set up.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. The bed was very comfortable and i would have liked to have bought it home with me! The little finishing touches, such as robes, slippers, choclates and the daily weather forecast made our stay.
It was very expensive to stay (it made a nice treat!) but you get what you pay for - high quality and good service.

The restaurant serves high quality food, and at the same time take their time to fulfill the needs of a 5-year old! Very important to the parents. Also the serving of 5-o'clock tea in the bar area was a hit!

Goed maar veel te prijzig !
De kamer was mooi met een heel confortabel bed. Het hangt een goede sfeer. Personeel is heel aardig. Prettig verbleven.
De kamer en het ontbijt vind ik veeeel te duur. 395 euro + 64 euro voor een ontbijt voor 2 personen vind ik eigenlijk niet kunnen. Het diner bij Bridges was goed maar wel iets te prijzig.

Hygiëne:nog haren in bad van vorige gast,voor de rest ok Interieur kamer:kwestie van smaak ,maar wat een combinatie van kleuren (paars,groen bruin,zwart) Meer de stijl voor een 3 sterren hotel en dat voor een gerenoveerde kamer.Comfort is wel goed(vooral de bedden) Badkamer wel stijlvol Uitzicht kamer:receptie gaf aan kamer met uitzicht water(kon het water zien,vanuit een zijstraat,dit noem ik geen uitzicht watergracht)

Zeer aanbevelingswaardig hotel
Goede ligging, vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel, zeer nette kamer met uitstekend bed. TV boven ligbad is ook zeker een pluspunt.

was niet de kamer type die op de foto stond op de side vond ik erg jammer. ook stond er drie maal betaal tv op de rekening waar ik geen gebruik van had gemaakt. en kon de vloerverwarming in de badkamer niet lagerzetten was erg warm in de kamer.

- teilweise Schmutz in den Zimmern - Badezimmer sanierungsbedürftig - zuerst wurde mir überhaupt ein Zimmer aius den 60 iger Jahren mit Spinnweben und stinkendem Teppichböden angeboten und das für 560 € die Nacht - die Bar ist finster, die Sitzmöbel muffelig - etc

Kamer was erg warm. je kunt wel de radiatorenafzetten maar niet de vloerverwarming in halletje en badkamer. Als je wat later aan het ontbijt verschijnt is de versheid van sommig beleg wat minder. Ook wordt je er bijna uit gestuurd als het 11.00 uur is, dat hebben we in de duurdere hotels nog nooit meegemaakt.
