De Veluwe National Park is the largest connected nature reserve in the Netherlands. It is renowned for its beautiful woods, heaths and sand drifts. Guests can explore the surroundings with bicycles available for hire at the hotel. Several stunning bicycle routes are also available at the reception. It is also possible to store and recharge electric bikes at the hotel.

Just north of Apeldoorn, at the top of the Veluwe, lies the small village of Epe; bordering beautiful woods and home to the Hagedoorns Plaatse farm museum. Golden Tulip Epe lies on the edge of the woods and forms an excellent gateway to the largest nature area in the Netherlands. A 30-minute drive will take you to the splendid Zwaluwhoeve spa resort where you can enjoy an array of sauna and beauty treatments.

Surroundings

Epe is conveniently situated between Zwolle and Apeldoorn. Hotel Golden Tulip lies on the edge of the woods heralding De Veluwe National Park. The Netherlands' largest interconnected national reserve is blessed with woods and shelters a treasure trove of cultural delights. In the Hoge Veluwe area you can discover the Kröller-Müller Museum, Jachthuis St. Hubertus (former hunting lodge) and Museonder (a subterranean museum). Cities in the vicinity include Zwolle, Apeldoorn and Deventer. In Apeldoorn, places of interest include Paleis het Loo (Royal Palace), the Apenheul (Monkey Zoo) and the Julianatoren theme park.

Food and Drinks

An elaborate breakfast buffet is available from Monday through Friday from 07:00 until 10:00, on Saturday from 07:00 until 11:00, and on Sunday and public holidays from 07:30 until 11:00. Guests can enjoy a delicious dinner at the restaurant, de Renderklippen; open from 18:00. The kitchen is open until 20:30. It is recommended to make reservations beforehand. You can enjoy a hot and cold buffet on Saturday evenings. Plus guests can end their day in style by the cosy fireplace in de Dikke Tinne bar.

  • + We had a great experience from the time we arrived the Bar manager was so kind and very nice to our two children age 3 and 6. The Chef on duty made us some sandwiches and fries even though the kitchen was closed. we were so appreciate of the friendly staff we met everyone, at the reception, the dining room, the bar and the staff who came with a cot for our son. We will definitely return and will recommend it to friends.
