With the characteristic tower Martinitoren in sight, the central market square Grote Markt can be reached within a few minutes. The square is surrounded with several shopping streets, bars with terraces and cafes, providing a pleasant atmosphere in the evening. Groningen has a lot to offer in the cultural department with its many theatres, museums and events.

The building which houses the Martini Hotel Centre Groningen has accommodated guests since 1871. A personal approach is the main principle in this contemporary and comfortable hotel. Surroundings

Opposite the Gedempte Zuiderdiep canal, where the Martini Hotel Centre Groningen is situated, the Herestraat commences. This street offers a wide variety of well-known chains of establishments. If you prefer smaller boutiques and vintage shops, you will certainly enjoy the Folkingestraat. Groningen is often referred to as the 'cultural capital of the North'. Evidence leading to this title can be found easily whilst visiting the theatres Stadsschouwburg,De Oosterpoort or the Groninger Museum.

Michael A very comfortable low cost hotel: 27 January 2011; 9.4; + The hotel is very central, within walking distance of the train and bus stations. The rooms are simple but immaculate and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It was very suitable for a short business trip.

The desk is open 24/7 and there is a good parking garage closeby that the hotel can give you discount. Overall good service.; - Poor ventilation in the rooms, which are pretty small. Unfortunately I do not understand the Dutch language, therefore I tried to communicate in English. Afterwards we had troubles at the parking with the tickets I bought at the hotel. But because of the language problems at the desk I decided to look for another way to save my problem. Another time, entering our room unexpetely, I just catched one of the maidens eating some of my sweets..... But all in all we did like your hotel because it is a very clean, very relaxing and very beautiful looking place.

There are cheaper and nicer ones even in Amsterdam. There was no telephone and no alarm-clock in the room and a tiny tiny desk, most importantly there was no free wifi (a must these days). The 'free internet' advertised consists of two freely accessible PCs but they are always busy and there was no printer. The hotel was noisy with renovation work. The hotel is not suitable for a business stay.

Door deze werkzaamheden ontstond er een grote lekkage in de gang tegenover mijn kamer. Brandweer erbij midden in de nacht. Wake up call was door middel van een man die mijn kamer op kwam en riep dat ik moest wakker worden...

Younger man: 9 July 2007; 6.0; + It was just 2 minutes from the centre of the city, it was huge and looked clean.; - There was a hole from a cigarette at the blanket, no soap at the bathroom, no telephone at the room, no alevator and the window was looking to another room's window in 1,5 m distance. Additionally, internet costed 5Â¤/half an hour, although there was no msn, no camera, but an old edition of webmessenger. All of them for 60Â¤!!!

Anonymous Aangenaam verblijf in Martini Hotel Centre Groningen: 6 February 2012; 8.2; + De open, vriendelijke ,maar toch professionele houding van het personeel ! Ideale ligging van het hotel, loopafstand station en centrum ! Zeer prettig dat je tot 12.00u kan uitchecken !; - De handdoeken roken niet erg fris , zeker niet na gebruik ! We vonden de badkamer nogal klein vooral de douchecabine, niet echt geschikt voor forse mensen , ik stootte regelmatig mijn elleboog tegen de douchekraan. De douchecabine hoort meer thuis in een camper , en het lijkt,naar mijn inziens, dat die daar ook voor gemaakt is.
